Never done it but got a litter coming I want to give every chance possiable. How far off the floor is yalls so the gyp cant lay on one?

  colt mine are at around 4 or 5 inches off the floor and a 4x4 width away from the wall .   just enough room for when a few day old pup has room under and behind it .   I just use 1x4's for the rail .

Get u some 2 inch PVC pipe 4 90 degree elbows plumbed strap and make a square out of PVC the size of your box and use plumbers strap to scew it to side can shim it out to stick out the width u want

I'll try to get out there today and take and pic and send it to you. What worked best for me was a 2x4 laid flat and about 3 to 4 inches off the bottom of the box. you can cut the corners to a 45 or just over lap them.  May be just me, but it seems like the smaller the box, the harder to keep the momma from laying on one.

We got mothers day stuff to do today, but I wouldn't mind running to deleon and helping you if you need help. Just let me know. I got the tools too.
