The boar in the picture was found at 1400 yards and stopped around 1600 yards. That was the Wolfhound/Deerhound/Mastiffs. Usually around 400 to 900 if they don't find something sooner. My dogs are not busy on the ground like curs so don't just run to be running. When they roll out or jump off the rack it's usually a pig.

Fonzie I only have one left and I dont like his style much. I have had bully/danes in the past that would run circles around that litter and my 12 month old hairy pups will make him look bad every time. He catches some good pigs but is very unpredictable in how he hunts. One night he night he is all mouth then others he will bark a few times before catching. He doesnt let go but likes to jack with the pigs before catching. He was an accidental breeding that we kept just to see how they would turn out. Turkish

Dane/mastiff is night and day from Bully/Dane. Dane/mastiff has two good noses bred together where Bully/Dane has one good nose and one so-so nose. Brett has some good dogs as well as Les from pigdog supplies. The early Dane/mastiffs came out very big and have been bred down over about 30 years. If I had had the right dogs at the time I would of tried to breed the Dane/mastiff and see how it turned out.

My hairy dog "Master Splinter" His son "Bo" 1/2 Stag 1/4 Pit 1/4 Dane He's not hairy but he is the only one that made the cut out of this litter. Father son duo My latest litter. Bred my 1/2 Dogo 1/2 Pit to the Stag "Splinter" She had 14 pups but only 4 made it through the first 24 hours. Lost one last Monday (I think her big butt squished it) 4 weeks old. One will be hairy and the other two look slick Couple Videos First one is one day hunting earlier this year with the father son duo doing all the catching. (I think Bo was 12 months old then) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvslDarlCH0Old video Splinter catching a decent boar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KtQ4tdIXh8

FYI they don't have to come out hairy to be called hairy dogs. It's a loose term used for anything with Wolfhound, Deerhound, or Staghound in them.
Chad Roo looks good, glad he turned out for someone. Breeding hairy dogs is very hard and doesn't work out most of the time. Once you get the right parents or line to click watch out cause they will be boar bashing fools. I find the mother makes a huge difference in how the hairy dogs turn out. You see a lot of Stag guys that have 20 plus dogs and only one female they breed to because she is the only one that makes good pups even though they might have offspring of hers to breed to.
