The 1 i got from him was more interested in cattle than hogs, which was worthless to me, but several other members on here that have some from him and they seem to work great for them. The guy who got mine uses him on cattle and was as of a yr ago extremely happy with him and said he was starting to find hogs. It took him nearly 2yrs to turn on n start finding. I wasnt happy with him but he made a good dog for some1 else. If ur looking at getting 1 from him, u can get the same line from other members on here for far less AND regular working hog dogs. Dropping $1500 on a pup that may or may not suit ur liking is a big chance. I took that chance and learned my lesson.

$1500 is for his average second + breedings of certain crosses. First crosses are usually $750 and dogs that are really advertised such as the stud dogs or brood bitches on his website go for $2500+....... If you got two mutts that find hogs you would be better off breeding them and hope for the best. And be out no money other than dog feed wormer and some vaccines. I had some bad experiences with him personally. Not the dogs fault, more the breeders and the buyers! If your hell bent on getting a fbmc find someone that has a pair that are working dogs of the purpose you desire and try to get your hands on a pup when they breed. There are superstars in every breed but when you look at buying a dog from a man who is sick all the time and can't work and prove the dogs he is breeding and selling for big money you are just wasting your money. I did so I can personally speak on this topic. I can't say much about David thoms because I never did business with him other than spoke several times on the telephone about different dogs. I did purchase a pup from a guy here in Florida that bout a breeding pair from mr thoms and it was not even in he same caliber as junk. I was very disappointed and spoke to mr thoms about the pup I bought and as expected it was not his dogs fault. He explained the breeding wasn't done right by the guy in Florida....... Go figure.

I had looked into his dogs because of an article I had read. Was interested in a natural straight front end/head cur cow dog pup prospect. After reading the article I concluded that we had the same expectations of how a good cur dog should work cattle. Now I have never met or know anyone who had met him. After talking with him on the phone, I figured he was a man who had actually penned some cattle in his day with cur dogs.  If I lived close to him I would have considered his price.

I know Randy pretty good, have been to his house and bought dogs and horses through the years. They are way out of my price range now, but one dog I got from him was a really good cow dog, since that was what I was needing at the time, he worked out great for me, lost him in an unfortunate accident and only raised 1 litter out of him. I had another gyp, that was a nice hog dog. I let Clue Andersen use her 10-11 years ago. She had her moments and could find and bay hogs, but would not stick with a runner. She ended up relocated. Randy has gone up on his price and reputation since those days. One of these days hope to go to Dryden, and gather some cows with him, when I was doing business with him, he was in bad health. He actually gave me a gyp one time that I took to breed to Ben Jordans Cotton dog, never got her to stick with old Cotton, but raised a nice litter of pups, out of another of Clues dogs.

well I am going to Randy's house this coming weekend after 2 pups and 1 grown dog I have been doing business with Randy for over 15 years and I wouldn't change anything I got going on I have built my own breeding program from his dogs and I now have 25 grown foundation dogs that I hog hunt weekly  and occasionally bear hunt with  like posted before everyone has their styles and likes and dislikes with dogs and hunting but they please me best part about all of it is     ITS A FREE COUNTRY IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT GET IT   no one is forcing anyone to buy dogs from him and yet he still seems to sell what he wants and as long as he has been doing it there must be something about it or people wouldn't be buying  Hmmm......  there is a thinker  sure there is bad business at times when dealing with people you gonna have it I don't care what business u are in / its just the bad that sticks out way more than the good you will have that

people these days are so quick to judge others and throw rocks in glass houses
it also seems that anytime some one succeeds there is someone trying to chop you down
to expensive who cares what they cost they are his dogs to sell for whatever he can get out of them (only worth what another will give)
there are plenty of references of people that are back to get more dogs time and time again don't mean to get on my soap box just do your homework and do what you want to do
best wishes

I don't doubt for a second that he produces some good dogs. I'm just amazed that you have 25 grown dogs that you hog hunt every week. AND a successful breeding program. AND you're still going back to buy 2 more pups and another adult. That is impressive.

Out of curiosity if you have 25 bad ace dogs why aren't you breeding instead of buying?

if a  person is going to sell to the public he or she  better get ready to  have  there product  loved by some and not by others .....  one thing that will never change is that anyone selling a quality product that they have pride in and stand behind the buyer want have to fight with them for  there money back if  they are not  happy with it ......  I have sold lots of pups and dogs and I gladly give there money back if there not happy with them ...I usually get it back train it and  sell for  double they basically raise  it for  me .... reason I do that is because  I know  my  breeding and what it produces .....  if I was out looking to purchase stock I may breed with I would look to what the average  of that stock produces  not the best it has produced ....

I didnt get this from ole' randy wright. Instead i got a month of hee-hawing n shucking and jiving till the 1yr was up and then it was "sry, the dog is 1yr old, i wont take him back and refund your $". It was an intentional roose so as to not have to take the dog back and honor his garuntee. Just a crawfishing snake in the grass

I'm also curious why 3 more dogs when you already have 25? Guy close to me has bought pups from you so I am curious as to why so many if they are all good

well I have been breeding along time and I have based most of my yard on yellow jacket so I am starting to get tighter in the line breeding and to get where I want to be I want a little different crosses so in a sense its an out cross without getting away from weatherfords ben blood and its something I just want to do and if they don't work to my standards I will dispose of them

of course I don't hunt all the dogs every week that's insane I have been doing this for 15 years plus so I have old dogs that have earned their stripes
