Call garmin.
My guess would be to Try reseting hand held and adding all the dogs all over again.

You'll need to update your garmin, But some DC 50's have been coming to people not working, happened to me. Sent it back and the next one worked fine.

Bought 3 new ones, updated them all, ended up having to send 2 of them back to get worked on. They ended up sending me some new ones. I haven't even got them out of the box they shipped them to me in yet.

I love the concept of the garmin, but man I have nothing but trouble out of mine.  I run the beep beep collars on all of my dogs with the garmins and end up using it more than the garmin because it loses signal and won't pick the collars back up until you are within 600 yards of the dogs.

Something's wrong with your system. Unless you are hunting super SUPER thick woods I don't see why you are getting that range. I usually get about 1 mile outta my 40's and average 2.5 miles with my 50's.

I can get that range as long as I don't lose a signal. If I ever lose a signal on a collar, I have to be 600 yards or closer to get signal again.

It's not that thick where we hunt, but it is by timber with a full canopy.
