It's amazing how many "cur cowdog breeders" their are out there. Yellow this, yellow that, blackmouth this, blackmouth that. Paper bred cowdogs who's parents or grandparents have never "worked" a day in there life is all I've seen over here in the Tenn, North Carolina, Georgia area. Have been looking for a front end/head dog prospect for a month now and all I have seen is ass end cowards. I reckon I'm going to have to make a long trip back home to find what I want.

Plenty of cattle, but no one who works with dogs, at least none I have seen and I've been here 10 years now. Drove almost two hours into North Carolina last week to look at some pups and there parents. Foundation bred blackmouth cur dogs is what the man called them. Told me on the phone parents were "working" cowdogs and to come see for myself. He had six momma cows in an eight acre trap that were pretty much pets. Turned the parents too them and I watched as they chased them around nipping and barking at their heels. This went on for almost twenty minutes before I told 'em I had seen enough. He then had the nerve to ask me what I thought. I looked 'em straight in the face and said that I personally would have shot the both of them for working and barking behind cattle. Needless to say, I left there disgusted.

Yeah, I want the right start. I'll wait too. Better to wait and have good dogs then hurry up and have a piece of trash

If i were looking for a cowdog i dont think i would necessarily look for a breeder. Talk to ranchers and folks in the farming/cattle industry and ask them who has real deal cowdogs, the kind that own and work cattle constantly. I think that is where you will find the real cowdogs, now you may have to pay for em but i think it would save alot of heartache in the end. Just my thoughts on the subject, best of luck findin what you are lookin for.

I once tried some Randy wright dogs and 2 wouldn't get out from under our feet...he also had another FBMCBA W. Ben dog that looked pretty nice but wasn't what I call an above average dog...and he also had a redbone/FBMCA dog that money couldn't buy...he said it was the best cow/hog dog he had ever hunted behind...  Smiley

There's a couple on here that a buddy bought some pups from a couple years ago. Only one made its as a hog dog and the only reason the others didn't is because they got pretty rough. Well all of the were hard to break off cattle and the 2 that didn't make it were made into cow dogs where they have to work every day. Turned out to be some really good ones. Pm me and I'll give you their number. They had some pups on here a little while ago from the same cross.  Might have some left. Thought about getting some more but I have enough.
