Got a half dogo half pit that's almost a year and half old and is showing aggression to other uncut males.  When I'm home he's not too bad and I deal with it but when I'm gone and my wife is taking care of dogs he gets worse.  Any suggestions? Will neutering him help out at all and if I do will it affect his hunt drive in him.  Really don't want to get rid of him had him since he was a pup and he's a good family dog.  He runs around the house with my 6 month old female dogo and they have no issues.

I don't feel that neutering would affect his willingness to hunt. It wouldn't hurt to have it done IF you are sure you don't ever intend to breed him. Have you tried a shock collar he can wear when your wife is tending to them? At least she could give him corrections that way. May be easier for her to deal with.

She has a shock collar on him and says it doesn't do much, when I'm home I just yell at him and he quits... Cattle prod haven't tried that yet

A cattle prod, boot, or a good whippin from a lead are all very affective.

I don't know for sure what cutting him would do; I recently had a really nice pit that was cut when he was young- to keep aggression out.  It worked- he never in the two years I had him started a fight or growled at a dog in the box with him.  He was a "gentle giant".  He also had more hunt that I've ever seen in a pit.  Even though he was cut, he had a lot of hunt in him.  He wasn't built for running, but he would run on the ground by himself and find/catch his own hog.  So, you wont know until you try it if the hunt or fight will stay or go.

if there is any distant inclination u may breed him in the future, cutting him will render that useless. id try everything under the sun but cutting his manhood off. nearly all problems can be solved with a dose of electricity or explosions. u pop him in the neck just behind the ear/s, his knees will buckle. a few shock therapy sessions and he should b fine.

dial it to max and light him up 3 or 4 times back to back so he can understand it really hurts when he acts stupid...also read his body language and any time he focuses on a dog correct it right away...

Something else to watch out for and correct...if there is another dog that is/was challenging him and now thinks that he is causing the other dog to back off then he can become the instigator...if that is happening then work on that one as well...you are the alpha and that's all there is to it...any dog in the yard that wants to bow up correct it right away...all dogs that act right are treated right...

I had the same problem with Dogo cross males. Good kennels and keep the locked up. As soon as I left town there were problems. They were fine when I was home but when I left things got bad. I had a very unhappy wife. She puts up with a lot so I cleared the yard. I think it was from the bitch side of the breeding that had some pit in her. So I cleaned that whole line from my yard. I would say nip the dog to make sure he don't breed and get strong kennels. But if he becomes an escape artist remove him from the yard fast.

I have the same problem with my 2 jagd gyps that are not fixed. When I'm home it's not an issue. When I'm gone they fight because the wife and daughters dont get that they need to be the alpha's when I'm gone. Every Person in the house needs to be Alpha Above the dogs. Your family and dogs are 1 pack.
