I got a call the other night from a man I met years ago when I was trapping for a neighborhood close to my house. He is the grounds keeper at a local high school and he also traps hogs for the school to keep them from tearing up the fields. When I decided to stop trapping I let him take over the neighborhood because he lived there and the high school where he works is close to his house. He called me and said he has been getting pictures of a good size boar hog by the school on his game camera. He said the hog will not get in his trap, and now he said his neighbors have seen this hog walking the parimeter of the housing developement, and they said it even chased one neighbor and his dog! I have heard of every story about the 500lb boar that breathes fire, and scares evey non hog hunter!! So I took it with a grain of salt..He asked if I would come out with my dogs and do a walk around. I told him if he ever see's the hog himself give me a call and I would come out!! This gentleman is alittle older and he will shoot the hogs in the trap because he is leary to handle them! He always has a pistol with him! He calls me the other night and says he was sitting on his patio having a beer and the hog walked out of the woods and walked right by his patio!! He asked if I would please come out. Told him I would be there in a hr! I load up Gator, Blaze, and Clyde and get to the neighboorhood and what do I see?? I group of home owners freaking out and saying all kinds of stuff about the monster hog!! LOL.. I asked him where he last saw the hog, so I can walk the dogs around the parimeter of the houses and see if the dogs can pickup his scent or wind him if he was back in the woods. I leash up Gator and Blaze and head over to the place he saw the hog and walk the dogs around. The wind was coming from the woods towards the houses and hen I got 4-5 houses past where the guy saw the hog go the dogs start winding and act hoggy!! Cut the dogs lose and they take off into the woods behind the houses. I have a crowd standing around me asking ??, whats the Garmin for, what will the dogs do, what, what!!! Starting to be kind of funny when I hear the dogs bark a couple times and then nothing! Look at the Garmin and have them 220yds away and moving! Tell everyone to stay put except my buddy and we take off towards the dogs!! Cover about 180yds into the woods and the guy was asking what the heck are we going to do if the dogs get the hog?? I tell him I will take care of it and if he could pull the dogs off and put them on trees for me I would appreciate it. He gives me a look like, WTF!! The woods were thick! I hear the dogs chop again and then nothing but a fight and the Garmin showing treed! Haul ass to my dogs and when I get there they have the boar locked down and he is putting up a good fight! Lots of palmettoes and roots, bushes and briars! I leg the hog and try pulling him out in the open to throw him and I trip on a root!! OOOPS!!! I got the hog by his back legs and when I fell I held on to him and pulled him on top of me. Man the fight was on!! LOL... I am trying to keep the hog from goring and biting my legs while trying to bench press him off of me! The old man is freaking out!! Running around screaming Oh number 2, Oh number 2!! Then he takes off!! So much for the help. I finally get up and throw the hog and start tying him up when the old man comes back to me with his pistol ready to start shooting!! Got the hog tied and the old guy under control. Nice boar, and a funny adventure!!

It was a funny situation. My buddy was funny as hell, the way he acted. Do not know him to well, but he is a good guy when I have been around him.
It was funnier hearing him coming back to me, calling out he was coming back!! By the time he got back the hog was almost hobbled. When we dragged the hog to my buddies golf cart and brought it back to his house. He was beaming, telling everyone,"We Got Him"!! Lol... I went and put the dogs back in the dog box with everyone wanting to pet them in the box, the dogs are wanting to bite, get out of the box and go catch another hog!! Had a beer and got out of there!!
