Decided to make an early morning run at a new place I picked up. I had buzz which is my lead dog. A chocolate colored pup i got from mr. Mason. She's 7 months. It was her first time to see a hog. And my two bulldogs. Trooper and Chomper.
We pulled up right at daylight and I turned buzz out. He was maybe 150 yards. Out on this path the cows on the place walk on. I kept noticing him winding something to the right of him and from where we were it was up on a hill. The pasture was weeds and flowers about belt high. I started looking in the way buzz was winding to see what it was and sure enough there was about 6 hogs. 5 of them between 50 and 60 lbs and what looked like a big sow from the distance.
We were about 100 yards away when buzz started to head to them my bulldog chomper was staring them down and kept looking at me like what are you waitin on so I cut chomper and told my buddy who this was his first hunt with dogs to cut my other bulldog trooper loose and the race was on. The pigs scattered and headed for the woods which was about 200 yards away. My bulldog chomper was about 20 ft in front of all the other dogs gaining some ground. The hogs went under the fence into the woods and about 30 yards on the other side of the fence chomper grabs the first thing he can sink some teeth in a back leg. Lol. And buzz and trooper hit each ear within seconds of chomper putting the brakes on him. My buddy Jo was so pumped. He is for sure addicted now. It was already getting warm so we decided to just load him up and take him home to work some young dogs with and try and catch the others another day. Nothing like a quick hunt.
Trooper is the dog in the pictures. I found him on the side of the road back in February and he can for sure lock down on one. Chomper can't take pictures anymore cause all he wants to do is catch he don't know the difference in a tied up hog or a dead one vs. a live one. He's gonna catch it either way.
