Never helps to think u know it all. I have learned some stuff here and also given advice that was supported by others. In any endeavor info is key. An open mind is needed to continue to learn. A man may find he does or does not agree with the info given but may find points that could improve his effort.

Some times you just get tired! It seems like a lot of times it falls on deaf ears anyway and makes no difference and leaves you feeling like a fool some times for trying to help. I am sure some folks take notice of a lot of things the older guys say and do and their ways of doing things. Nobody ever has the best there is always better some were you just have not ran into it yet . I myself laid off got tired when it seemed like it got to be more like preaching I said that's enuff for me and figured if anybody wanted my opinion they would ask . I can sure understand why some of the elders do not post near as much anymore because I feel the same way these days just different times and era I guess.

This is why I don't have a Facebook or Twitter. Never have. I've heard NOTHING but bad things and drama about it. I don't handle drama very well so I just block it out every way I can. People just keep doin their thing and I'll keep doin mine. I like this forum I read it quite often wen I'm not busy and this is the closest thing to a Facebook that I've got

The number one reason i do t have one is because I'm afraid it would take me too long to figure out how to set it up and operate it!

Facebook is simply a better tool than a message board.
I can remember as recently as a few years ago (before the popularity of FB), being an active member on several message boards, and a frequent visitor to several others.
Hog Hunting = ETHD, TexasBoars, Parker's board, LSWDA, TDHA, and a few others I can't recall right now.
Other hunting and fishing =
2coolfishing.com, TexasBowHunter
For Farm and Ranch info = Tractorbynet, Cattletoday, etc.
Now, for the most part, one can go to FB, see what their friends and family are up to, watch some funny videos, and check out their favorite group/message board. No need to login and look at several different message boards, and click through layers of forums to get the info you want to see.
As for FB and drama, it happens. Do you know where else drama happens? Anywhere people congregate: The workplace, a message board, FB, the local beer joint... It's human nature. You as an individual have to decide if you are going to be a party to the drama or not. I have plenty of "friends" on facebook that I am no longer friends with, as I tired of their constant bitching. It was as easy as clicking "unfriend", done deal, no more drama....
ETHD was at it's best with less than 1000 members. There was a core group of early members that weren't out there self promoting, they didn't have an agenda ( One-Out, Weatherford Ben, Dogos, etc ), they were interested in hunting hogs with dogs. There have been some real knowledgeable people that have passed through at ETHD, some have stuck around, and some have moved on. It may be because they got tired of answering the same questions over and over again. It may be because they were challenged to toe-fights ( Chance Ward ).
I'll say this, I'll be forever thankful that ETHD was created, because some of my best friendships started on this board.
My best horse - came from a member I met on ETHD. I needed a set of cattle to put on a place down south, called a friend I met on ETHD. Need hay baled on that same piece of property, called a friend from ETHD. Needed help getting access through some adjacent land, so that the big trucks could haul the hay, called a friend from ETHD.
Of the four people listed above, I don't think any of them post on ETHD any longer, but I am friends with them on FB...
If you are wondering what happened to the traffic on this site, I believe FB is your answer.

Eh, I'm still here! I enjoy the board! I don't post near as much as I used to though. I've met some good folks off this board, and learned more here about hunting with dogs than I thought I'd learn. I'm definitely thankful for ETHD.

Yeah I like FB myself at first I was not to sure but then it turned out pretty good. All people I know on there and made some friends I didn't know same as here. The difference is you can delete the a$$holes you don't like on FB and do not have to deal with it . This board has always been the best hog dog board for people to come but I agree I think FB is the reason for a lot of the slow down. Friends and family on FB and like I said you don't likem send them packin all at your on control. As far as the drama goes like the man said it is every were people congregate no doubt . I don't have to listen to it just flip the page !

The main reason I still love this messaging board is the ability to look up a dog that BigO or Chance etc, posted years ago, go back and read about hunts from when ol so and so was alive and/or find out bitches he was bred to before I was smart enough to pay attention. Cant figure out how to do any of that on facebook!!

I believe that it was just a fad like everything else. You will always have people come and go just like everything else. I have hunted with dogs all my life in some form or fashion and for some of us it will always be who we are. It's also getting harder and harder to find places to go that allow dogs. Which makes it very frustrating.

I still read the board about everyday but dont post much. I think FB had changed the game on posting pics..etc bc it is so easy to upload pics through a app off your phone. It was a process for me to get a pic and story through any forum. It also seems to me alot of the same topics just rotate through the years. I like reading topics on how people here do everyday things like spray fence rows/cows/dog pens..etc. I also always search here anytime I have something come up with my dogs that I dont know or want to get different views or ideas on....Has always been a great forum.

I've always thought dogging of any kind had a five year itch. Give them about five years and they sell out or only only keep one or two dogs.

most folks really are not doggers...and after 5 years they turn to other hobbies...that is a fact with show dog folks...most only last 5 years...
