The spca went to my neighbors house yesterday asking about his dog. The old man doesn't own any dogs but the woman had his address. I was working on the mower when she walked up behind me in my drive way. First thing she said was I'm sure I heard a dog bark over here. I keep two yella dogs in the front chained up. She then asked if I had any more dogs. With out thinking I told her yes. And followed it by asking what she needed. She said my dogs were no properly housed. All this time she never told she was with the spca. I just knew something wasn't right. I told her unless she had a warrant to get off my property. She got mad, stood up on her tiptoes and told me I had fu%*3d up. I told her she was tresspassing at this point she needed to leave. I walked her accross the road to her truck. That's when I seen the SPCA sign on her truck. I asked what is exactly I could do for her. She told me we had already established I was an A$$! I'm sure she will be back. What steps can I take to keep her off my property?

Bury her in the woods n problem solved or escort her off the property with a pistol barrle screwed in her ear. She is trespassing to begin with.

Like mentioned, be sure waters are clean, and houses are adequate. Also, it'd be a good idea to take a quick video of your dogs and their areas and keep that on you. I swear, I've known of folks like that knocking waters over on purpose etc to make it look like the dogs didn't have water. A yard video is always a good thing to have on hand as visual evidence that your dogs conditions are right. Throw up a couple private property/no trespassing signs while you're at it just because.

Like a lot of folks I keep blue 55 gallon drums for housing. Plenty of shade trees, freash clean water and the works. I simply don't want the p.o.s. on my property! I have nothen to hide. My dogs are the typical hog dogs they wear scars from hogs and are worked. I feel like the privacy of my home was invaded and my dogs are being threatend by a tyrant. Charles she came on to my property with no invite, I wasn't thinking about pulling the ole firearm at the moment I wanted her gone!

You already told her to leave if she comes back call the police and have her arrested for trespassing. Plus you can file a ciil suit for any damages when she is on your property because she is not protected like law enforcement.

Exactly, an uninvited tyrant with NO position of authority and NO invitation is the exact time to escort them off the property at gun point. Its our properties, NOT the animal caring rainbo squad's. Make it clear they are not welcome and need to leave and enforcement if they return.

Now how would pulling a gun on an unarmed lady asking about your cute puppies look on the front page of the paper?

Just my professional .02 worth. Ask her politely to wait by her truck for her safety from the dogs while you get cleaned up and you will be more than happy to help her with anything she needs.  walk away call the law and wait for them to arrive.

Two reasons, you pull a gun on her she WILL call the law.  How does that make you look?  Second how does it look to the unknowing public when it hits the news?

Its irritating I understand that, but this isn't a street fight and these people don't play fair,  so just kill them with kindness so to speak and let the cops deal with them.

She is trespassing no matter what. She was as wrong 2 boys copulating. Its none of her business. Being polite might work, but it could also be a sign of bowing down to them. Asking her to wait by her tck for her safety would be an instant red flag for her, it would for me if im sticking my nose in some1 elses dog business. That could taken as he had attack dogs or human aggressive dogs, which then she wpuld call the cops. Thats a no win scenerio sll together.

The fact of the matter, she was NOT invited onto the property, she was trespassing, plane and simple. She aint unarmed. She has the backings of legislature and high rollers with a whole lot more $ to take him to court or what ever. If i dont know them, excluding delivery srivers of parvels and postal, or a unit with cherries n berries, then they r fair game when they r on my property.

If the gun thing was to much, then the nxt peacefull thing woulda been to just call the law himself and have trespassing charges filed on her. Then her buddies will be back with bigger guns, so to speak. Make it very very clear that orginization aint allowed under any circumstance. Anything else is weakness.

youre right she has A LOT of backing with a lot of people who have more pull than your .45  so coming off like a rude, militant, dumb redneck is probably not the way to go.  However being polite and letting law enforcement handle it will probably look a lot better on the front page of the paper or the evening news.

Pick which headline youd rather see.  Local hog hunter arrested for pulling gun on concerned citizen, OR Crazy woman from SPCA arrested for trespassing and harassing honest local man.

Just my .02 but when the cops get there cause you pulled a gun on her it might not go the way you think it will.  Now im done with this one before the F the po po comments start.

to the OP ive dealt with peta and it aint fun, honestly good luck.

Well I fall right between both of you. I don't pull out a gun unless my life is threatened first. It just raises tension. If a cop pulls out a gun would you wan't to cooperate? Hell no I would want him fired. So keep the gun put up. But I sure ain't asking her nicely to leave. I would flat out tell her to leave. I would then post no trespassing signs. Because if she comes back you can call the law and she should be arrested because it was posted. Now don't threaten the cop but get his info and if he does not arrest her then call the Sherriff's office or judge he works for and ask why a trespasser was not arrested when you have no trespassing signs posted. I would  pull out a video if she comes back. With video evidence they can go arrest her. Make sure the no trespassing signs are clearly visable from outside your property. All the money in the world won't stop the arrest. If she knocks over a stick have it on video. Remember the video records you too. So that is when you make sure you only tell her to leave and state that it is a criminal trespass because signs are posted. If she has any weapon even a pocket knife get that on video too. A weapon ups the charges. Think about if you cross a fence to get your dog. If it is posted you go to jail, if you have a weapon even not posted you go to jail. Make sure you write down the date and time she came on your property and you told her to leave. Play by the rules so they don't get you in trouble and you can win. Just don't lie or break any laws and they can't do anything to you. But even if the cops show up with a warrant she is not a cop and she still can't come on your property unless it is writen in the warrant and signed by a judge. That is where reading helps.

I should have chosen my words better.  When I said nicely I meant it as polite.

Dub I talked to an old timer I know, his advice is the same as yours. Been a cpl day and no sign of her. I did talk to a local deputy and he told me haven't heard anything. That as long as my dogs are watered sheltered fed and vaccines are up to date she is out of luck. He told me I was fine and not to worry..

I agree with all that Rdjustham posted...I would post no trespassing signs up...and no permission given to come onto the property and then call the law...I would consult with a lawyer as well...

Be as polite and professional as you can be and call the law if and when they show up...video tape all you can and slap as big a lawsuit the law allows...these folks have an endless supply of money...that is why you need to cover your bases as best you can...

By covering your bases and video taping you take their power away and you can bet they don't want any negative publicity...

I'm with y'all in being polite about the situation , may not even polite but at least professional . We have a hard time keeping the general public on our side . I know it's a crappy deal but we all need to set examples

Use that Southern politeness. You know when you use polite but firm words. No cursing or bad mouthing. "Mam did you see those no trespassing signs? You need to leave my property right now because you are trespassing. I sure would hate to see you hand cuffed in the back of a police car." What the really means is girl you done messed with the wrong man and I want your ^%$ locked up as fast as possible.
