if it is an open pedigree it won't tell us much other than the dog is purebred...
if it is a tight pedigree and certain dogs show up quite a bit and you know quite a bit about those dogs...and you know most of the other dogs up close as well as their temperaments then you can more or less guess the probabilities as to what the pups will grow up to be...
as much information that has been shared on this forum and other places and it is free for the taking...then every hog hunting breed of dogs should be improving with each generation...

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

Pedigree tells you what a dog could/should be, confirmation (maybe) tells you what a dog could be? Hell....how does it go?

The way I was told was...
Pedigree indicates what the animal should be. Conformation indicates what the animal appears to be. Performance indicates what the animal actually is.

that's it... Pedigree...SHOULD BE Conformation...SHOULD BE Performance...ACTUALLY IS...still to many variables because we are all different...
