Dropping tonite around midnight...should be around 62 with a north wind.

Start off checking out the hay pen then road into the wind up the river about a quarter mile before we get ou and walk.

We went out bout 10 yesterday morning. Hit one fast. Bayed several time but never get any help into Lady. She hit another boar around 2:45 ran him a long ways before baying him in a wash. Red Dixie and fancy finally figured out she was on something and went to her. Lady can get catchy and they stopped baying but wasn't moving. Sent Kane from 170 to make sure lady didn't get beat up to bad. Get to 70 yards and still no squeal got to thinking bout Kane. 6 months in a 4x4 pen recouping, out of shape. So I send Roxie to back him up as we finish breaking our way in thru saw briars and pine thicket. Got in decent lil boar about 175 1" to 1.5 " teeth. Nothing special but beats a dry run. Lady did real good. Glad to get Kane back going now time to get him in shape again. Roxie did the job. Good hunt to me.

it was 67 degrees this morning before 6:30 AM and at 9:30 it was up to 68 degrees...not bad for SE Texas in mid September...Dogs did pretty good but I was hoping for better with the cooler weather...

I haven't been hunting sense first week of may.  The dogs can handle being laid up way better than I can. I dropped around 8:00   They were in hogs by 8:15 they killed a few pigs and finally caught a running sob 11:00  by the time we caught him we made sure we caught the two cut dogs before we worried about the hog.    It was a lot of walking in wet boots.
The weather was great.

Weather wasn't as nice this afternoon but took 2 pups 10 month old on their first run. Didn't get on anything but the pups showed a willingness that I wanted to see. They got on out with the older dogs real well. Stayed busy and not under foot. All I could ask for.
