Anyone out in crockett? I am most likely going to purchase a small farm out there near the national forest. Just wondering how everyone likes the area?

I live about 85 miles north of Crockett. I think the Crockett area is a nice place to live. If you buy a farm with national forest around or near by, the human population density may be less than some places, which I consider a plus. There are several fairly large properties in the area that are beef cattle operations and a number of folks with pretty good lines of curs.

Used to hunt a lot between Crockett and kenard and there is decent amount of deer in there area, but saw few signs of hog except along the river. I went venturing a couple times and came across houses in middle of the Forest. Not sure if it cattle ranches that were grandfathered in when the land became a national forest or how the houses came to be surrounded by national forest

Boss Hoggin,

You aren't too far from my weekend place.  I'm across the road from Center Ranch, back in Pleasant Springs.

Lots of hogs, and lots of small acreage landowners with itchy fingers in that area.

I have some larger tracts to hunt in that area, but haven't turned a dog out there in years...

Circle C,
I live 10 miles from the ranch headquarters. My buddy I hunt with rides cuttin horses for center ranch. After deer season we should get together and have a good hunt. There are tons of hogs in the pleasant springs area. I have permission to hunt a couple of places but don't know all the surrounding land owners so I try not to hunt there too often but times I have there've been some good hogs caught.
