Some have recomended cattle panel, but instead of that due to cost of the panels, I used chicken wire to prevent digging as much. Didn't have any issues with the chicken wire other than removal with 100s of pounds of hardened mud making it like concrete slab. I also used it to wrap the bottom of the panels to keep puppies from getting out. Worked fine, except the momma dog used it as a chew toy and chewed the wire apart.

Why should I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away? An elected legislature can trample a man's rights as easily as a king can!

Never used it to line the whole bottom of pen but I have used 3' pieces around the edges to prevent digging out. We used dog wire. (Welded wire 2x4.)

I am fixing to line the whole bottom of my kennel areas with wire . I have used different wires through the years around the edges , but do to some coyote acting idiots I have as of late lol that have taken to actually digging burrows in this soft sand here . I have settled on using the concrete reinforcing wire . it in it's self isn't very cheap but I can't bring myself to use panels . I figure with the concrete wire on the bottom all ready I can come back at a later date and just put up a form and raise the wire and pour a slab if I so desire but I doubt it . the poultry netting and 2x4 weld wire has never worked for very long in my pens as far as hurting the dogs pads I have never had a problem . but it does require taking a looking at every now and then to make sure you don't have any sharp edges or barbs coming loose and sticking up .
