I just put some money down on a garmin alpha. This poor boy has to do a layaway plan..lol. I was wandering if any of yall use it and how you like it ? The man told me that if I change my mind I can just get the 320 instead. (I have had the 320 before and really liked it ) but I figured id save a little money and get the alpha instead of the 320 and the tritronics shock collar. Any input would be appreciated. Thank yall.

Its been discussed here before. Mine was given to me so I cant compare. I will say that when I showed its options to hunters that still used other thay were impressed.  I dont hunt much so im not the best guy to review. But I like it alot. Batteries last long time.

I've had mine a for over a year now and love it. My dogs always wore garmin collars and shock collars. It's nice having one handheld and one collar instead of two. Plus the range is way better than the 220 and 320 with just factory antennas on the alpha.

I know it ain't the alpha, but here is cabelas deal on the 320

http://www.cabelas.com/product/Home/Christmas-Sale/Hunting-Gear|/pc/105625080/c/594491580/sc/481690080/Garminreg-Astro-320DC-50-Bundle/1624313.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fhunting-gear%2F_%2FN-1116442%2FNo-0%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_481690080%3FWTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNP%26recordsPerPage%3D48&WTz_l=Unknown%3Bcat481690080

Not sure if it's a good deal or not, but if it is, will somebody say ya or na pls? I need to get another tracking system and can't afford the alpha, but like mike said, I like the idea of having 1 collar/handheld instead of 2

The 320 DC 50 combo is a pretty good deal, especially if you use their free shipping code. I just bought that bundle a couple weeks ago so we now have 2 320's.

I hunt with a guy that has the alpha. He also runs a 320 since he doesn't have enough collars for the alpha. I do like that system as it will track farther than a 320. Also has a lot more options on it that I like over the 320, but we get along fine with the 320's. We also run telemetry collars on our dogs as well, so we can generall keep up with them.

It seems that since the 320 will work with the dc30s, it's a better system than the alpha for ME. I guess I'll go ahead and get the 320 before they go off sale tomorrow. Thanks for the reply nannyslayer

It does seem the 320 would be the better deal. And ive had it in the past when I was competition coon hunting and really liked it. One of the big things thats got me wanting the alpha over the 320 is the built in " E-collar" . I would actually save money versus buying the 320 and a tritronics with several collars. But like I say ive got time to decide on one or the other. Im just making payments right now ...thank yall for the replies

If you live by a cabelas keep your eye out in the bargian cave. They dont sale just the hand held anymore you have to buy a collar with it now. Me and the wife were going through witchita kansas on a return trip from takin a pup to colorado and they had one in there bargian cave i ended up giving 400 for the hand held and a pair of costa sunglasses. Only good luck i ever had.
