Have a friend that works at a vet and she was telling me about pyrantel. She had a big bottle of it and was telling me she would give me a bunch of it. Anyways there was a party goin on and adult beverages were being consumed..lol..and the subject got changed faster than it came up. Any of yall familiar with this stuff? Good ? Bad? Use it ? Dont use it? Lol...thank yall.

pyrantyl pamoate is a yellow paste for livestock or yellow liquid for dogs...you can buy the past which worms about 1200 pounds of 8-9 dollars or you can buy the dog wormer liquid that worms 100 #'s of dog for the same price...I buy it at TSC feed store or any feed store in a tube...Strongid is one brand name and they have generics in other names...just look at the active ingredients...pretty safe to use and it kills the hooks and round worms...

Thanks Ruben. You the man. This stuff here was for dogs. It was in a big ole bottle. And said something like 1cc per 10 pounds of dog. Said they could get me a bottle like that for 20 bucks and there was 1000 cc's in the bottle.

It's great for hookworms I use that along with ivermectin in conjunction with each other, read what the active ingredients are in heart- guard heart worm medication and you'll see why. Good stuff I would get my hands on all I could, revival animal health sales a big bottle for a good price, it's the same stuff they use for treating worms in humans.

I agree Georgia-Hawgs...I have been doing most all my own vet work since about or before 1980 including curing a few dogs from heartworms and I have still learned quite a bit off of this site...

The wormer you should give three consecutive days conatins active ingredient fenbendazole (safeguard, panacur). No need for multiple admins of the others.

I only used it like that once when i new they had the worms now just once a month. Not saying im right but seemed to work. Thank you for the info iv been trying to get into a good wormimg regimin iv dug through alot old post on here that are helpful but trying to find what works for me. Not trying to thread jack but has anybody started using the drontal instead of the pyrantel? Hooks seem bad around here so its a must to stay on top of it.

Drontal tablets are simply a combination of pyrantel pamoate (strongid) and praziquantel. Work very well for treating all intestinal worms at once (including tapes) but pretty costly also. Much more cost effective to use a regular regimen of strongid wormer and treat for tapes only when they are seen. Google "fish tapes" and use that for tapes.
