Have yall ever seen them? I know most folks are familiar with the solid yellow dogs with a black mask being the only other color on them. I have a female i just had a litter out of and she has white feet and a white chest. So do alot of the pups. All have a heavy black mask though. I had a friend tell me that alot of the j.d.howard dogs were colored like that. And some of the ladner dogs as well. My female goes back to some old howard blood. She is a howard carnathan dog. I must admit i prefer a solid color dog though. But these pups sure look good. Thank yall .

I got a foundation registered male that some of his litter mates a what the registry called excessive white and wouldn't register the pups. Now the parents to these dogs my buddy owns came from a highly touted BMC breeder ( respectively decline to throw out any names) and he and his dogs were highly talked about by a high power so to say in the foundation BMC registry but they wouldn't register their own dogs. The grand sire to the pups was a registered white ring neck , haven't figured that one out yet. Just goes to show that you never know whats going to show up in the wood pile.

My yella dog has a lil white on her chest. She did not have papers but was out of a line of dogs a guy has been raising for years. He never elaborated on bloodline other than he has raised these dogs since the early 80's. He don't sell dogs and he thought enough of me to give me one so I didn't pry.

I have seen BMCs from Big Thicket lines that showed white on feet, chest and/or underline. Many of these had parents with little or no white. I have also seen a couple of white ring necks from similar cases. These would be from several generations of cur breeding. Of course, no one knows what may be in the dogs from years past. And I have been told of outstanding curs from the past that showed a good bit of white.
I have BMC dogs today that have white on feet or chest. I don't worry much about it. I do prefer not to have a white ring neck BMC, but if he's good, I will feed him.

I think you may be right about the Pug, especially for heart, and color? But I think BMCs were around before Dogos?
Of course, originally BMCs were bred from whatever the folks had that did the jobs as they wished.
Looking at the differences in different lines, I think that some amounts of hound, bulldog, mastiff types and perhaps others were in early curs. Ormiston wrote an article, I think in Dog World, about "Colonial Curs" that contained some interesting thoughts.

Back in the day cur dog was exactly that...a mongrel or mutt...which means of unknown ancestry...tody a cur dog is a stock or hunting dog...
Coke used to be coca cola...and bad used to mean not good...today bad means good...
IMO...Cur dog was an all around farm/ranch dog that did it all...including guard and helping put food on the table...of mainly nixed breeding and they evolved to what they are today. ..
