It is a felony in the state of Texas if your dog catches a hog in a pen. Do not not post anymore pics of your dogs catching hogs in a pen... baying is fine, but not catching. This goes for out of state members also, I dont know your state's laws but we'll assume there the same. Wink

This is for your own good and the posts will be removed.

There's many "eyes" that monitor these forums. Shocked

sorry mike

No problem here, we move pics and videos several times a week. Which is fine because most folks don't realize that it's the law.

I worry about some of the other pictures becomeing a problem to if the wrong folks see it.. I try to stay away from many of those tailgate shots for that reason.   It's is going to be a real threat in my view and could possibly doom the sport.

All you have to do is think about what this would look like outside the box, (not just us doggers see this stuff) Folks are actually trying to end the sport we all love, lets not help or add fuel to thier fire. If you have any doubt at all then don't post it or at least ask someone.

Not trying to be a smart a** at all, but does it apply also if you are training some catch dog pups, and the hog is hobbled?

That's a good question... not sure? Maybe someone has the exact law and can post it? I've read it and can't remember all the details.

I doubt that would be an exception.  IF it is against the law when they are not tied up, I'm doubtful it would be okay if you had the hog tied up.

The catch comps are what caused this and not the "good" catch comps but the ones where them yanks were useing domestic, little hogs and not having enough hogs for a fresh one per dog. There was a vid of a "catch comp" in Arizona w/ 100# domestic hogs and they had to use the same hogs over and over to the point of having to hold the hog up for the dogs....bullcrap!!!!  when we went to the ones here in Tx back in the day they had good hogs in the 250# range w/ full cutters and enough hogs for a fresh one per dog. Many catch dogs didn't even catch alot of the time as the hogs were pretty bad dudes. A person may or maynot agree w/ the catch comps,I enjoyed the good ones to see good bulldogs get tested but very much disagree w/ the ones who caused all the trouble from animal rights folks.

Regardless, it is illeagal in all 50 states to catch in pen.

What you should ask yourself is this...... Do you want to defend yourself against someone who says it is?

I would venture to guess that none of us are actually qualified to interpret the law but any one of us could become the precedent. I really don't want to be that guy so, better safe than sorry.

My idea would be that if an animal is restrained by unatural means in any way and another bites it(catches) and you take pictures, I would'nt post the pics or show em' to the public on the internet escpecially. only my opinion not sure of exact facts.

I'm assuming he means hobbled and turned loose... training hunts. That's how I train all my young dogs... not sure on how the law is specifically worded.

Yeah thats what I was figuring I was just suggesting not to put pics on the board of dogs catching while tied or hobbled, never know where they'd take that to. Huh?

I don't have anything against the pictures.
With that being said, isn't Underdogs picture doing exactly what you said isn't allowed?
