Anyone on here ever use or hunt with a pit heeler cross?  I have  litter coming anytime and am real tempted to keep a few. I mostly coon hunt and a little bear hunting. I did not plan this at all , the dad is the heeler and a tough as nails hard worker , mother our house dog pit. She is a friendly bulldog and built well. Heeler is great with my kids ,horses, chickens ....hell on people not invited or bear that come in the yard..
Any info from anyone that has had this cross let me know. Thank you .. Swamp Rooster.

A buddy of mine when I first started hunting had two of them he used as catch dogs. They were small, 30-40 lbs, but would catch just like a full bulldog.

I guess if you can make a hunting dog that's fine but I have seen so many growly healers over the years that it is one of the last breeds I would ever want to see crossed with an APBT. Just my 2 cents. They better go to folks who know what they are doing.

That little sucker dug out of his kennel and went through another fence to get to her on literally the last day she could have took...I wish it would have been my airedale that got her lol..
I was thinking the same thing , they might be to hard a dog for most people. The bulldog is sweet as sugar but that heeler can be rough. He is great with my kids but he is protective of them... That is why I got him in the first place . Swamp Rooster

Would be great for hunting just about anything, but yeah will almost certainly be a fight-starter due to heeler blood, and a fight finisher due to pit blood. If you're gonna have anything to do with heelers you better know what you're getting yourself into, they're as smart as a man and just as nasty, devious and untrustworthy.

I have always liked the heelers, a more loyal dog was never born I do not think . They can be a little sharp. They are slick little fighters a lot of time  able to kill a big coon with out much danger to them selves .  Mine is good with the kids , puppies can eat with him, but male dogs he does not know are targeted on our property..
I wish I could find some guys looking for trap line dogs or something like that ..Swamp Rooster ..

I've had several heelers if you socialize them with other dogs they will be alright. Mine now I use to kill varmints. There's people that use that cross to work cows which would pry be a better fit.

Had two heelers when I started hunting hogs back in the eighties . They where hell on a hog , would set one down  and dare it to try to run. I used a twenty two rifle and just waked in and shot them. Killed a lot of hogs with those dogs !!! One of the biggest hog hunters in south Texas used pit heeler crosses !!

Seems like theres more heelers in the US than Australia, personally not my thing, growly and pig headed. A lot make short range finders and in years gone past they caught a lot of pigs (still do for some guys).

Had one a few years back. A half and half heeler/pit. Everytime I turned him loose he would rather fight another dog than go catch the hog. Caught fine by himself. He didn't last long in my kennel.
