I've noticed that it seems like a large majority of you do your hunting at night! In mississippi we mainly hunt in day light. I'm curious as to the reasons?  Obviously I know hogs are nocturnal and you are increasing your chances but is this the only reason?

the top three reasons I hunt at night are

1) .....deer season
2) .....work during the day
3) .......heat in the summertime

......now when the skies open up and the stars align we make daytime runs, just seems like the majority of the time one or more of the above get in the way of daytime hunts...... I don't think it gets any better than a feb-march morning hunt starting out in the mid 40's with light winds and warming to mid 50's as the day goes on.......just seems like we don't get near enough of days like those  Cheesy

Usually when we hunt at night, its because its the only time we have to go or because of the heat in summer. I'd prefer to always hunt daylight. We seem to have better luck keeping them bayed in the daylight.

Idiots with guns ? If you are where you are supposed to be what is the issue ?

I dislike hunting at night . I like to see where I am going.

Gotta completely disagree with that one brotha.

Hence the word "Idiot" with a gun.

They tend to show up just about everywhere. And Yep...even the places where you have permission.

I scared if the dark, Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti,
Snakes, Cheep flash lights, and above all the Yeagua monster, and I get list easy enough in the daylight.
If someone shooting at me I want be able to see them!

How can you tell exactly what your dogs are doing in the dark?

the biggest worry about daytime hunting is more traffic on roads and the chance of a dog getting ran over is much higher when chasing a hog across the road...or maybe the dogs bay up in the next ranch over and they just might shoot a dog...that to me are the big daytime hunting worries...also better chance of getting a dog stolen as well if it is a friendly dog...

Every deer season idiots with guns and bows... aka "poachers", sneak into all of my city properties. Fortunately, for them, we've never had a dog shot or shot at.

Those idiots with guns may not be where they r suppose to be. And hunting PUBLIC land (which where im suppose to be if im hunting there) more idiots r out during daylight hrs and the public lands iv hunted, nearly every tom, dick and harry hav guns.

So YES, idiots with guns.
