My friend and hunting buddy called me yesterday day to let me know that a dog showed up at his house where we keep our dogs. About every six months a dog will show up at the kennels I guess they can smell the other dogs from miles away. This one was a little different I have never seen a dog this skinny and emaciated. I have owned dogs my hole life and like everyone who owns dogs and takes care of them properly knows how exspensive it is. Well I show up this morning to feed dogs and the dog comes up to me looking for food and I get a good look at her and realize that shes pit bull and also a fight dog. This dog dont have a spot on her head without a scar, her teeth are broke and she only has one eye. Dog food is exspensive I know because i go through alot of it but I have big heart and cant stand to see animals starving so I gave her some food. I just thought i would share my little story with yall and say Dog fighting makes me sick and people who dont take care for there animals makes me sick. Dog hunters get a bad rep for the use of dogs to hunt but most hunters take really good care of ther animals because they are compassionate for hunting and the dogs they use to hunt with. Thanks for reading

Jag, your story breaks my heart. I can't stand to hear of anyone starving their dogs or any animal for that matter. I hope you can find someone who will take care of the dog.

I agree, not to change the subject but saw a horse today that looked terrible and less than a year ago it was a fine looking horse. It just makes me sick when I see a horse standing in a little fenced in area probably less than a acre with nothing but dirt to eat and a few pine trees.

I dont do dog fighters. Hate to be the one to piss in the pool. But if you know a fighting ring, only one way to handle it. ![](http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/Smileys/default/police.gif)

JAG,
I don't know you, but you are a good man. Too often our four legged companions fall victim to worthless people who care about nothing but themselves. Let me know if you need help finding her a GOOD home where she can live out her days in peace.

Jag- you are a saint, I'm the same way gotta big heart, the ladies say otherwise ![Grin](http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/Smileys/default/grin.gif) , I totally agree, that stuff and those people tick me off, we outta ban together a doggers and dog lovers, built a big UFC type ring, gather all the dogfighters we can find, put them in the ring tell them fight or starve!!!! I found a dog about a year ago, beaten up pretty bad at my work in houston, a cop buddy told me she was a meat dog(what dogfighters use to train their pits then discarded like trash) now she's my mom and dads yard dog and the mom of my lacy/cat pups, great dog with kids and good guard dog, all bark no bite.

While I commend ya'll for your empathy in this situation...I would venture to say that unless you were there to see how a particular dog has obtained their scars, it is nothing but speculation at best as to what actually happened. Many empathetic folks would look at some of the scars on our dogs and mistakenly speculate that they were fighting dogs as well.

Kind of what I was thinking Scott. I know you guys mean well, but what your doing doesn't seem much different than what the anti type folks do to us.

Good hunting.. Good point! On that note, If you plan to keep that dog, rehabilitate it, nurse it, what ever; you may want to report it for a little CYA. Obviously, if you live in the boonies and there is NO chance of anyone ever seeing the dog, there is no real concern. If you live in a sub-urban area and there is a chance that someone seeing the dog will assume that its YOUR DOG, and that YOU are a dog fighter, its a short leap to being reported. All that it takes to make sure you are covered is a report of suspected animal abuse with the Sheriffs department... Steve

Let me back up a little and just say that I did not post this story for people to say oh JAG you have a big heart your a good guy or to have sympathy for me I know I have a big heart. If you read the whole story at the end it talks about being COMPASSIONATE about hunting and compassionate about the dogs we hunt with. The point of my story had little to do with the abused dog even though it makes me SICK that people abuse there dogs. The point I was trying to get across is that all the dog hunters I no take good care of there animals and yes somtimes dogs get hurt somtimes they die but its not intentional. Putting two agressive males or female dogs together to go at it is inentionaly hurting dogs plus its against the to fight dogs. I was not there when this dog got the scars but I have owned and hunted dogs for along time and unless this dog got mauled by a bear or got its head stuck in a combine it was used as a game dog. I hope whoever reads this now will get the point I was trying to make. Thanks for those of you who posted positive to my thread.

Kevin, I see your point but the ONE big differance is- What we do is legal. I would have no problem rolling on a dog fighter.
I am pretty sure a bait dog's scars are going to be a litle differant then the scares from a hog.

Historically speaking...there never was a such thing as "bait" dogs. That term was contrived by the AR...kind of a viscious cycle.
Ultimately, as a stated before, unless you were there to see how the scars were obtained...it's nothing but speculation at best. There's absolutely no way that you can say that dog was intentionally matched against another dog, unless you were there. It's called jumping to a conclusion without all, or in this case, very little facts. Kevin is exactly right....that is exactly what the AR does, and would do.
