  Savoy, I know what your saying.  If you think about it though, hog dogs scarred up probably doesn't look any better to the other kind of people   than dog fighting scars.

Historically speaking...there never was a such thing as "bait" dogs. That term was contrived by the AR...kind of a viscious cycle.

Ultimately, as a stated before, unless you were there to see how the scars were obtained...it's nothing but speculation at best. There's absolutely no way that you can say that dog was intentionally matched against another dog, unless you were there. It's called jumping to a conclusion without all, or in this case, very little facts. Kevin is exactly right....that is exactly what the AR does, and would do.

I am a hog hunter and knowing Josh I would say if he says someone used the dog for fighting that is what happened, it almost sounds as if you are defending dog fighters I also believe if its his thread he can jump to conclusions or speculate all he wants to. Because I'm educated to the history of that particular breed of dog and I give my opinion regarding the speculation of others I'm defending dog fighters? I think all I've done is state a reasonable opinion (or argument, if you wish to call it that) regarding the speculation of another individual. I don't know Josh, but, I'm quite sure that unless an individual was in a position to witness how animals (or other people for that matter) obtained their scars...it is nothing more than speculation. The facts are that he found a dog with scars on it's head and blind in one eye that has been severely neglected. Everything else is conjecture.

Why would I question it? Because I wouldn't want anyone who saw the scars on my dogs from hunting to speculate in the same fashion and assume that I fight dogs. It seems that we have a difference of opinion...that is the extent of it.

I dont condone dog fighting. But dogs can fight just the same on the street as they can if someone is pitting them together. I think the guys are just saying dont blame it on someone without knowing the truth. He is not siding with dog fighters.

Scott I understand what you are saying. Many times people have asked us if our dogs are fighting dogs. They see our bulldogs and dogos wearing vests and cut collars and "assume" they are fighting dogs. People have even mistaken our cur dogs for pit bulls! Heck we had a lady follow us more than 20 miles home, called the law on us and everthing because she was concerned about the well being of our dogs when all they we're doing was resting in their in their dog trailer after a long day of hunting.I see the point your trying to come across. Its happened so many times to us.

Got accused of dog fighting outside of a tractor supply one day.  A lady say my dog box with a (skunky) biothane cut collar hanging off it and went right into the ol "I know what that stuff is for and I'm gonna call the cops" routine.     should have let her take the skunky collar home for evidence.

Look - participating in illegal activities gains you a certain reputation whether you like it or not.  Dog fighting is one of these.  There may be times where you are falsely accused of something you didn't do, it comes with the territory.  So what if he's speculating?  The bottom line is the dog was starving and would have expired without his aid.  This has nothing to do with anti's or dogfighters getting wrongly blamed.  As far as someone claiming my dogs are fighting dogs - I've no prOblem sitting down with the game warden and showing him pics and video to prove my innocence.  That accusation would be easy to disprove for any of us.  GOOD WORK JAG.

Well alot of people talk about dog fighting like they have seen it first hand!!!I don't beleave they have!!!  LETS GET THIS STRAIGHT I DON'T DOG FIGHT NEVER HAVE AND DON"T CARE ABOUT IT!!! But I have been to several dog fighter house and there dogs are in better shape than most hog dogs!! There was dog fighters that DID NOT FIGHT TO DEATH They did the hit three times rule.. Why would they want a dog to die that they just bet $25,000 on just cause he lost that one he probally one lots of money and is a hell of a stud dog!! I seen a vidieo one time of dog fighting it was not that bad they had stuff to take care of the dogs on the spot..  Dog fighting did not excite me... But   there    was    dog     fighters    who  took      good       care     of      there      dogs      and      ones      who    did     not    !!!!!     Just       like      hog       hunters    !!!!  One     day      if      they      ever      make       hog    hunting     illigeal     someone     on   a   thread    might     be     talking      about     us     like    this      because       they     never       got      to     see   the     good     side    of     what     we    do !!  I still beleave in freedom and  I thank we should worry about human life more than an animals life!! Chance, thtat was a great post and mirrors my thoughts...most of your old "real" game dog men were some of the best dog men you could find...now these modern day thugs who see tv and think what they see or read is the way it is done is the problem. It does not hurt to educate your self on things such as this as the AR folks veiw us not differently than dog fighters really.

Just as Scott said, a bait dog was never historically a part of the fighting dog word...now it may very well be a part of the uneducated thug population who own some remenant of the real APBT's and know no better.

Thanks underdog!!!! Oh I am not trying to defend dog fighters just trying to let people understand to be open minded  about things... But as far as the one story about people asking a guy if he wanted to bump his dogs!!!!The old dog fighters that I new would never ask someone that they kept a very low key about what they done and you had to know them real good for a while before they would even talk about it....I don't think the guy would even think about stepping out of his truck and trying to scrap with one of these guys... Remember they love to watch fights and probally don't mind scraping themselfs....Some of the main reason for shuting down dog fights was the gambling that took place.....And usally drew a pretty bad crowd  drugs ect..... Agin please don't think I am defending them we could  be in there shoes one day!!!

What cracks me up is after the catch competitions were outlawed, people started bad mouthing them... the same people that attended and participated in them!

yeah well the ones he was talkin about is the thugs that try to fight their dogs and are stupid about bein open about it, i kno what u mean about how it started and was posed to be but around here its mainly just these thugs thinkin they have to fight them to death and dont take care of them and stuff!
