I can not believe why somebody in there right mind would post a dog that 2 or 3 years old and say they Arnt started but they want 400 to 800 dollars for em it's crazy! I been trying to slowly get back into hunting hogs full blown butt I am not stupid and I am not just gonna buy any ole random mutt from someone! Eventually the right dog will come up and I'll score! I just think it's crazy stupid the amount of dogs ppl sell that ain't worth feeding! Hell and I love seeing the finished dogs for sell for 150$ lol man alive you can't trust a soul any more! Wish I'd have never sold all
My dogs and stuff this starting over is for the birds!

I got a 7 month old finished gyp for sale for $127 only reason for sale is she finds to many hogs. I dont feel like foolin with that many pigs in a days time. Haha...just kiddin man. You are right. I had a man lie to me last week. The dog was cheap though and i still like him. He's young and i feel i can still make a dog out of him. He was just talked up real good if you know what i mean. If a dog is for sale and they are talking it up it may not be as good as they claim but that might be thru there eyes not yours. If a guy has a good reputation for your style of dog that where I would go.

Lol yeah I got a gyp a buddy is talking to me about hopefully that deal pans out! And I really don't fool with anybody unless they got a good reputation and I don't a lot of back ground checking i dog deep i really look into someone and call ppl and ask about em cause this guy ain't spending his hard earned money on junk or a dog trader I was just going through the dog trade this morning and there is a lot of bs in there haha! Yeah Logan you were right I should have never done it I have been regretting it for a long while but it's part of it I guess learn from stupid mistakes I'll have great string of dogs before long again!

Thats whats wrong with most of the breeds today. I am all for culling, I dont kill my culls I have them spayed or neutered and give them to a good home preferably with a kid. I am not in for the money. Majority of folks gonna breed every female they have regardless of what they can do and then sell puppies just to turn a dollar. And I guess that is okay cause its a free market, but it sure does screw a lot up.

Yep...my old Jasper dog wasn't a super star but he put me in pigs....and i caught pigs with him. I regret moving him. This weekend I'm going down to Dayton and picking up a couple pups out of him....part of the deal I made when I sold him.
Last week when I talked to the guy that bought him from me, I hinted around to wanting to buy him back...he told me everything on his yard was for sale but he wouldn't take $10K for him..... I just laughed. He said maybe he ain't worth that much but he was to him...he loved the dog.
I use to have a hard time understanding that way of thinking. To me...you could always find a dog that would get the job done, honestly...I still feel that way...BUT...the ones that are special, at least to you...I've found that though you can fill their kennel with something that works.....it's hard to replace them.

Kelton, I knew when u done that I would b seeing this. How did I know it because I have stood right where u are now and believe me once is enuff lol. Its very hard to aquire great dogs. Because there truly are not that many great ones for sale. If there is a few here and there it will take alot to get them and still most the time they will not suit u like ur old crew once did. Been there man. I learned I will sell a few but never ever sell the roots . You will get it again but believe me its gonna seem lime its ten times harder than it was the first time around. Money is one thing but time seems to be priced higher tgan the dogs. That time it takes to get back to where u where is what seemed to always eat me up the most.
Get you some well bred young dogs from people u can trust and let the party get started. Them finished dogs seem to be a dime a dozen and worth even less.

For all those young dogs that are fir sale in situations where you cannot try them first. Flip those ears and look inside. If they are not scratched to pieces ........probably a foot warmer. Youngsters with some go will show will show the signs of heavy thicket abuse. Especially around face, neck, chest, front leg area.
Any older dog........huge chance your buying someone else's problem.
On puppies......don't buy into the crap about it costing $500 dollars to raise a pup to six weeks old. $100-$200 tops for a well bred stock pup or you are just paying the feller to be paying him. Plenty of profit for him in that range.
Good young dog around a year old are better investments. Old enough to have an idea of what they could be and young enough to get them where they should be.

I have seen that as well. But they cannot pattern a good ole East Texas briar patch!  Just love hearing all the good ole war stories about that hard hunting son of a gun. While I flip them slick ears and non callused pads. Best part is when they come off concrete and have the ole slab rubs in the back of their hocks. Dogs body will tell ya alot in a pinch! |

lol, the amount of culls folks are ATTEMPTING to sell makes me laugh.............. The ridiculous part of this is the amount of culls that are actually BOUGHT! a little research will go A LONG WAYS when looking into prospective dogs like others have mentioned. In my opinion the ONLY sure fire way to stay in good dogs is to hunt and befriend guys with good dogs...... the rest is easy, put in a little time/work and before you know it you will have good dogs yourself. I think the single most influential reason folks buy up so many culls is due to the "I want it NOW" syndrome........ most folks don't want to nor are they willing to wait and work with young dogs to mold them into good dogs, they just want "jammed up, solid finished dogs  " right here right now and they are blind to the fact that some folks aren't honest and will sell anything off the side of the road as a "jammed up, solid finished dog" on the internet.......... Since I started workin pups more and more I honestly almost enjoy working them more than actually going hunting.......its really enjoyable to watch a pup grow up and eventually click and turn into something down the road to me. |

lol that's and old peddlers trick from when I was just a child , all the rabbit dog peddlers kept a wire brush in their tool boxes just for this purpose . and with beagles they had to be sure and rough up the tips of the dogs tails as well . |
