Yep. Funny how the tricks from long ago are still utilized successfully....... Reason? As above.....no homework done!
If your a successful race car driver, bet you know every inch of the car your driving. Why is it any different in dogs?
Take the time to know a dogs body and physical makeup all the way down the to the toenails! Then apply that knowledge to the major areas affected by hard hunting!
All the signs are there to be able to call BS on 95% of the cover stories.
In the end ........Most deserve to be burned due to pure laziness or compulsive decisions. Both of which are curable!

the real question to me...why so many culls? when folks can figure out what a good dog is and what should and shouldn't be bred there would be less culls out there...
a dog can be a cull for one person and a good dog for someone else...
most of the time I can not find a dog that I like even when it is a good dog...

I believe a lot has to do with folks don't know how to use that trigger finger anymore, it's just to easy to come up with some story for ole couldbe and make a quick lick off it, or folks think they give money for a pup they should at least get their money back instead of just doing the right thing and putting it down....

I gotta agree with ya on that as well. Id hate to add up all the money ive lost due to my huntin habit over the years lol.....if a fella is in this for the money he is in it for the wrong reasons! |

I gotta agree with ya on that as well. Id hate to add up all the money ive lost due to my huntin habit over the years lol.....if a fella is in this for the money he is in it for the wrong reasons! Go ahead and patent those quotes. They need to be on the shelves by Monday!  |

Only two types of pups. Ones that you are excited to use and ones your excited to sell. Both are a loss in terms of money.

As long as there are "cull buyers" there will be "cull sellers" and as long as there are dogs raised there will be culls out there. Best bet buy puppies from long standing good strains of dogs and hope for the best, older dogs try them and see if they fit you. Big boys don't cry if they get beat.

5 years ago I decided to switch from cur-crosses to all plotts! I made the commitment to go with puppies from respectable bloodlines and breeders and it was the smartest thing I ever done. The truth is if a guy has very high standards the dogs he's looking for will not be for sale anyway so the puppy route is actually your only option, just buy plenty because most won't make the cut. Lol |

The truth is if a guy has very high standards the dogs he's looking for will not be for sale anyway so the puppy route is actually your only option, just buy plenty because most won't make the cut. Lol Amen to what you said word for word OCONEE...raise your own...test them for winding trailing and finding ability as little pups as well as range...look for natural traits...buy plenty of pups or buy a good female that is no longer needed in a breeding program and have her bred to the right male...observing the pups is part of the selection process... a true artist is born... |
