so whom on here knows that piece of work in bowie county that was starving his hog dogs and hogs in bowie county ? and his sister told the county sheriff that they fed their dogs every other day to keep them hungry so they would hunt !! all over the news this morning .
yet another black eye for doggers .

I know of a few people who do this ,one being an old dogman most seem to rave about. Not feeding your dogs is ridiculous.

i know the area, but not the guy. it aint who i was thinking, the guy i know, his dogs are not skinny and the last time i saw them, looked to be in great shape. it is a shame folks let their dogs get as bad as the news claims. folks that do that, should be treated the same way.

I just watched a news video on it. Wonderful. More fuel for the crazies who think that we ALL treat our dogs like that.
Idiot doesn't deserve dogs. There's no way they feed every other day and those dogs look like that. If he was, he wasn't feeding nearly enough.

lol I know it . I feed around a pound a day and my dogs are butterball fat and they claim they gave each dog 5lbs every other day it just don't add up . that poor ol bulldog gyp looked bad on a chain with her puppies all over the place .

U have to remember a pound a day is more than enough good food. If he was only feeding every other day and feeding crappy feed 5 pounds probly ain't enough. Cause 5 pounds was actually 2 pounds instead.

I don't know how much mine eat I fill there feeders up about one a week and most the time there not emty mine are to fat but rather some one say my dogs are to far than skin and bones if u can't treat them right how do you expect them to do what u want

Hate to see dogs in that shape.
Feeding every other day is a pretty normal practice for a lot of fox and coyote hunters. But they are feeding 29/20 at 3 lbs every other day. The dogs Ive been around on this diet are in great shape, maybe a touch fat, but their reason behind it is, they want to feed on the opposite day that they hunt, says the dogs do better. I guess I've always just been accustomed to feedin mine every day. But mine stay a little fat.

I feed my dogs every other day as well. I feed a 30/20, and my dogs all look phenomenal. Its a matter of feeding proper amounts. Those dogs clearly were not being fed properly, period.

Do you notice they perform better if hunted on the day they were not fed? I'm curious to hear others on this subject, as I said earlier, pretty common practice for the fox and coyote hunters around here and their dogs look great. |

I agree...this the add the anti's will be using when they push for legislation to ban hog hunting with dogs...once that happens they will move to the next step in their agenda...the majority which are in the middle will more than likely vote in their favor because of carp like this...
