A great dog, Captain,  owned by Thomas Rohan went to the happy hunting grounds this weekend.  It was tough hearing the news this morning.  Thomas took him out on his final hunt this past weekend. For a dog in his final days, he was still excited to make a hunt with his lifelong companion.

For those that don't know Captain, he is the foundation to the big white dogs of Ugly Dog Ranch.

Sorry for your loss, Thomas and Krystal.

Man I sure hate to hear that.  He was a special dog to alot of people and I know he will be missed.  There are few dogs that are lucky enough to be cared for like him though, he had a good life.

Thomas and Krystal... I'm so sorry to hear that, I know how much he meant to your family.

I'm honored to have been able to hunt with Captain through out the years we've known each other.

I'm really sorry to hear this.  The good news is there are a lot of white dogs that proudly carry on his legacy.

Sorry to hear.  I know he was one of those "special" ones.

I'll give his kids and grandkids on my yard an extra scratch this evening!

I wanna thank everyone one for the kind words. Chris, a big thanks to you for thinking enough of our boy to start this thread, it choked me up all over again.
This has been a real hard couple of days on us for sure, I have been fortunate enough to own several pretty dern good dogs through the years but this one was the "Big Daddy of them".

Captain Morgan lived a long active & full life as a very versatile working dog. He will be remembered by us for many reasons, by most others as a foundation sire to the "Big White Dogs" and one hell of catch dog to those that knew him in his first half of his life, to mention a few other things to add to his list of accomplishments - a puppy trainer, a guardian for our farm animals, a true versatile hunting dog from treeing squirrel to retrieving birds. A personal protection dog, an obedient dog, a working dog in truest meaning. Also in his younger years, a drinking & fishing buddy to Thomas and friends. He had no limitations to his intellegence or willingness to tackle new tasks, He even learned to smell out roots and remove scrub brush & stumps, and would find and bay snakes on command as well. Captain Morgan is one in a million. Nov. 98 - Sept. 09 with Love from Your Family

That is a sad eulogy and great way to remember him.....he definitely lived a long productive life! I would rather say congratulations Thomas and Krystal! He was well respected by many hog doggers and produced some very fine offspring . He will be catchng hogs for years and years on down the line .......RIP Catain.

The first hog I ever saw caught with dogs in the woods........ Captain was the catch dog.

The first hog I ever stuck.......Captain was the catch dog.

Thanks Thomas and Krystal for letting me hunt with Captain and thanks for one of his "Big White"  offspring.
