Another thread and post got me thinking, i recently got rid of most of my dogs except a few and that was because i simply didnt hunt enough to justify keeping them and when i go hunting i want to take take the the same dogs so that they get better evey hunt and not miss out so that they can get better as well as it makes it easier to care for them when they need it. So my question is How many dogs are in your yard and how many times do you hunt?

I have 3 cur dog and a cd and i hunt 1-2 times a week with an occasional middle of the week run January-June.

I have one old finnished dog, two young dogs one is well started and the other is barely started then one small pup.  I have two catch dogs, really dont need but the one but for some reason I have two.

I had a good plott dog and a young dog that was doing good and was quite happy with just them and the other old dog but I lost one to a car and one to a gator so got to start over.

I try to hunt at least once or twice a week but with deer season in full swing I have slowed down a little.

I am "down" to 9 cur dogs. No bulldogs here. Of course, two of my cur dogs are 11+ years old and retired. Two are 6 months old and not even started yet. One had a broken jaw and I was told by the vet to NOT hunt her again as the jaw was broken in several places and is liable to break again if hunted. He also said if she re-breaks her jaw, I might as well shoot her in the woods as he can't fix it again. So I hope to raise a litter from her this winter.

Thats five out of the nine on the feed bill that don't get hunted. That leaves me my Monkey dog, my 3 year old male Spur, my female Red (mother of the 6 months old pups) and Cricket, my year old female. The 6 month old pups will get put in the woods this winter, so that will give me a few more to mess with. I rarely hunt more than two dogs on the ground at any given time. My philosophy about that is, if my two dogs can't find, stop, and bay (and usually catch) a hog, I don't need MORE dogs I need BETTER dogs.........

I went over two months this summer without going to the woods. Once it cools off I normally go about twice a week, sometimes more. We also get a few guys together and do 3-4 day hunts in a row, just rotate dogs.

Have 2 finished curs, 2 bulldogs, 8 young dogs, and my wife has 2 dogs that are yard dogs. I know this is to many young dogs. I will cull out out this winter during deer season. 6 of the 8 are about 6 months old. I get to hunt about 6 or 7 days when I am home form offshore. I usually take my my 2 older dogs, 2 bulldogs, and a pup or two with me when I go hunting. Sometimes depends on how many folks are going or where I am going.

I've got 5 dogs in my yard and hunt all of them at least 2 times a week. I have been going along with my uncle and my brother in law who are training younger dogs so I have had to rotate which 2 or 3 I bring on each trip.

I have 2 YBMC's and my father has 6 Red Curs, 2 6mo. old puppies that started training, and recently had 9 new puppies.
1 of his curs is retired so we have 7 that actively hunt.
During summer we were hunting them 1 time a week but when cool weather kicks in we are hoping 2-3 times a week.
My brother has the catch dogs...
2 Dogos and we usually take both.

On a hunt we take 2 CD's, my 2 BMC's and 2 or 3 of my fathers cur dogs, so we take about 6 or 7 dogs.

We have a kennel that holds 12 dogs and are 5x8. The dogs get rotated so that they are in a kennel for a little bit and then loose for a little bit (also depending on the dog) or on a chain for a bit.

My father, brother and I split the dog bill.
