Cantexduck came down for a hunt here in Lampasas. He brought his gyp and catch dog and I loaded two Jagds and my catch dog. Left the house about 6:40 am and by 7:15 we were on the ground hunting.

We cast the dogs with no luck on the first turn out. There was hog sign under every live oak and everywhere we drove. Coming up on a large open field I told Mike there are always pigs out so keep an eye out. Before he could spit a smart azz remark out a nice hog broke out across. We cut him off and were at a stand still. I could see his teeth as he bolted not 20 yards in front of us. I kicked Luke on him and 400 yards away...we were bayed.

My guestimate 175 lbs...he was giving the bulldogs a workout.

Mikes's gyp, Sally, took a good poke and had to be sidelined for the rest of the hunt. We did a little doctoring and drove down the FM road to another pasture. There was hog sign all over the ranch and a 10 mph breeze, so we decided to let the Jagds wind off the ranger. They are pretty good about bailing out on scent.

Next hog was a brute...he had both cutters broken off but went about 250 lbs. His wetters were extrememly large....bout the size of both thumbs together.

We did a little more driving around got a birds eye view of the river.

I really thought about giving Savoy a mule kick here but figured it would leave a mess!

We headed back to get the big hog and soon as we stopped the Jagds bailed. We loaded the hog and checked the garmin. dogs were about 600 yards. Made our way a little closer and Luke met us at a cross road. It showed Bart bayed about 500 more yards in. We drove as close as we could and started walking. On the way to the bay...Luke pulls up bayed not 100 in front of us.

It was another nice boar about 175 lbs...decent teeth.

Luke and his Hog.

That hog ended our day. Few more pictures:

Thanks for the comments.

Luke looks plum worn out, but I bet that only lasteda few minutes. Good Hunt and some nice pictures.

Usually that is the case...today he was lazy..lazy. or they were both lazy.  Grin Think Luke is liking the winding a little too much.

I like those jagds.
Looks like your bulldog took a good shot in his grill...ouch.   Great hunt fellas

Actually he is a little banged up from picking on one of my Jagds...or really the Jagd picks on Jack. I had to do some modifications on my kennels because Jack was getting the bad end of that deal.

You are right about that! The pictures I took with Richard...it was dry! That was th last time I hunted this particular ranch. It is 14,000 acres of God's country and loaded with hogs. Come on up and hunt it with me....

Great hunt guys.

Bump, thank you for taking Savoy hunting.  I hope he behaved himself and didn't complain too much.  Wink Grin
