Finally got a night off and exercised some Yellers. Lil man got to get his hands dirty right off the bat with a boar that was drifting through the lease. Someone awhile back had looked at him before and had ear notched him, but forgot to Barr. He sure would have been good eating if they had finished up their marking process.  Good times with Strikedogkennels and Indianvalleyranch.

Good hog.  I've marked boars  by cutting the tail only without barring them to keep good boars as stud hogs in the woods - if that makes sense.

Sure had a good time, I think Hunter brought us good luck. Catching one 5 minutes into the hunt never happens these days, more like run them for 5 hours and then he might be ready to bay up. I guess this piggie forgot to pump up his Nikes. I'm sure he won't forget next time Grin

No doubt. Lil man was still pumped at daylight while I was halfway slobbering on myself.  Haha!

Good job. I've marked a lot of boar hogs & not barred them. If they have good color or show a lot of Russian in them. Wide & tall in the front & low & narrow in the rear.  I like to let them breed.

Will gladly trade ya any Russian blooded hog we catch for some good ole Rooter blood.

Wish Russians had never came into East Texas.....its been downhill ever since.  Cry

Good hog, have left a few with their jewels for breeding stock, mark ear but we never cut their tail. That handle is essential sometimes.

When we Barr them we trim their tail, but we make it hand width plus an inch.
