There is a million variables in that question. Is he a competition dog, If so does it have any wins or championed out? or is he pleasure dog.?  What are his faults because they all have them?  But at the end of the day it boils down to what YOU are willing to pay for that particular dog.

And don't forget about the right pedigree...

Agree with Josh G & Rueben.
-
A top shelf coonhound that will go huntin, get struck, push a track, locate accurately ( has the coon 80% of the time, and stays treed under pressure will cost no less than $5k. Probably closer to $10K. This type of dog is scarce and rarely for sale.
-
A good solid balanced hound that will regularly tree easy and average coons will cost between $1500 and $3K.
-
A well started young hound that will run and tree with a finished dog and tree an occasional easy coon alone that is trash broke can be found for $500 to $1K.
-
trash broke is a big deal in the coon hunting groups I have hunted with.
 -
Hope this helps u out.

If he is jam up and does all these things but fights under the tree or has heartworms0 he is worth $0.

There is so much information that must be known about the dog to judge worth and value and you don't know much about a dog when you go off what someone else says or when you've only been to the woods with the dog once or twice.

And then, if the dog is a coon dog, he still isn't worth much to me, but if he will tree bear or cats, he becomes more valuable.

Bottom line is you are the only one that can judge worth.  Are you trying to figure out what others will pay because you are thinking of selling him?
