lol no joke I was raised on fords and went thru the chevy phase when I got out of the service . in 1976 I bought a 69 chevy truck and in 77 I bought another 69 for a parts truck then in 78 another till I bought a ford truck  lol  now you will find me in a pre 1970 car all day long I love chevy's muscle cars but it's ford trucks for me . I really liked my 66 chevy ss nova with the hopped up 327 2 speed power glide tranny . picked up a lot of girls uptown in that little pearl white bolt of lightening   lol

lol nope !!!  I am going to run a compression test today on all cylinders just so I can tell the service tech at the rebuilders what the hell is going on  and make sure of no head gasket or manifold leaks the new carb I got in exchange is doing the exact same thing . checked all the pushrods and lifters [ good ] I put a clear line on the fuel system with a gage on it so I could watch the fuel pressure and see the gas flow it checked out perfect . I can't really see it being anything but the carbs do to the fact it runs so smooth when it runs for that little bit after setting for a minute . I talked to  [ an older ]  parts man lol and he said the new bodies were junk and several others that had the same problem on facebook ford group . I was told to trash the carter and by a holley  lol

yeah they say the carters accelerator pump system was the worst , but hell I haven't had that much trouble out of them in all these years  lol  . but I have all ways liked a holley on my old hot rods . any way my baby brother and his crew are coming in from Pennsylvania Friday so I have been busy getting this place in shape for the whole damn family to be passing thru and eating me out of house and home , so I just work on it a little each day not in a big hurry to get it going I've got about a month and a half warrenty left on the carb before I loose my money .

man I hate kinfolk gatherings specially mine  lol  that's why I stayed west of I35 when they all moved east  !!!!!

man that's a tricky one Robert. Have you tried to take the gas cap off while it's running . I know I gap'd a new set of plugs one time a little too much and had an issue after it wormed up.  My old 76 ford 300 ran like a champ as long as you kept clean fuel filter and plugs. Hardly ever an issue at all.

I'll be curious to hear the ending to this one....  Hope you get'r fixed soon....

lol  I know mike I've never had this much trouble , but my mind is shot anymore this mean ars old woman I call mom has got me frazzled , plus I am going thru withdrawl from my VA pain meds that they have screwed up and not sent for some stupid reason . just ain't been my month   lol  but I may have it narrowed down to a stupid mistake I might have made with the gasket . it is such a simple thing that it is most likely the problem  lol  i'll find out tomorrow  .
