Crazy question...I have a chance to but peanut butter cheaply by the 55 gallon drum. I'm thinking about making a bait site with just an open drum chained to a tree. How well do yall reckon this will work ?

it should work for deer as well...

wrap and wire a few old sacks around a post and throw some burnt oil and diesel on the sacks and you will have a one stop shop for the pigs...

Here in the SE Tn mountains, a lot of these old boys bait bears with drums of peanut butter. I've caught several hogs off their bait sites. Wink

I said one stop shop...stop to eat peanut butter and then go rub all over the diesel and oil to repel the body lice...

You would be surprised how long it will last. The heat doesn't bother it as much as rain.  On our South Georgia bear lease we keep about four barrels out. Just back up to where you want them, take the top off and roll the barrels off the truck. Make sure they are laying on their side so the rain doesn't get in it so badly. Everything in the woods will eat it. I think they said we fed about 75 or 85 barrels last year. Funny thing tho, the bears don't have much hair on their heads, I'm guessing the acid or something in the peanut butter eats the hair up on their heads. Afro

The peanut butter is not for human consumption, it's called seconds I think. Pretty sure it's bought from the mills where they grind up the peanuts or a distributer. We bought an 18 wheeler load of it this year. Around $75 a barrel or so. Lots of peanut farms in Georgia.
