Best way to catch a dog

I got a new dog took him out to see what he's got only problem he won't let me get close to him to load him out this will be the second night. I had left my shirt and he has been by it this mourning  and afternoon. But I can't get him an I'm getting tired is there any special tricks to get a dog to get close enough to grab.

No special tricks as far as I know. Most of them get more coyoto acting the longer their left out there. If he don't have any kind of tracking collar or nothing you want on him I wouldn't worry to much. If he had on one of my tracking collars or a collar I wanted back Id take a 22 rifle and get my collar back. It's nothing worse than a wild acting dog. I guess if you really wanted the dog you could get you a little kid to go with you one that's been around dogs before and knows when they grab the dog not to let go and not to run after the dog. A lot of crazy dogs will let a kid catch them for some reason. Or you could see if the dog pound would let you borrow a big live trap and see if you could trap him. If you get him next tone you let him go put a piece of 20 foot weed eater string on his collar and let him drag it around it won't tangle up and you will have a lead on him

That's a bummer right there. I can't stand it and personally won't put up with it for to long. That's one of the most aggravating things in my opinion.  Especially when the rest of the crew is waiting on me and I'm trying to catch a dog that's 20 times faster than me. I hope you can get it nipped in the butt if you really like the dog. I had one that did it out of shyness and not because he just didn't want to leave. I ended up spending a lot of time with the dog at home and it helped.

Yea i tried the kid thing my son slmost had him but my boy went sloe to pick him up snd burnt off on him he does have my tracking collar.

If your truck dog box is small enough set it out on the ground with door open. It might go in there since his scent is in it and it's familiar to it. Even if it's only been in it a couple times. I've had this work before

I won't stand for a dog that you can't load up. I ain't ever seen a dog like that you could correct. I don't care how good the dog is that's a no go for me. A dog don't have to be a coyote to hunt good that's a fact most of this is caused by breeding and handling just my two cents

ya when i read that I thought the same thing. i had a dog given to me last year that no one could catch, he was blackmouth lacy cross from texas that my buddy had shipped over, then he had some other pups given to him that he liked better so that pup was neglected, not handled at all, he gave him to me at seven months and you couldnt get near him. I made the mistake of letting him off leash on when I got home, he was running loose for four days so I looked up on this site what to do and there were a couple old posts that said pee in his water, so I did, within an hour he came to my hand and I caught him up. I kept him kenneled after that and did what I recomended to the other guy, every time he would start acting squirrelly I would pee in his water and it calmed him down. It took me six months to really earn his trust, he was doing great on hogs, but I ended up giving him away because he was an incurable poop stomper. I dont know why this worked, and I dont need to, Im open to what I dont know

I actually  had two more leads on him.

Them lil boogers don't stop till they get tired started tying string to mine in case we picked up and moveto other spot now live had him a few yrs he is better cause he knows I mean business when I call him many a day he had a bead drawn on him

you could put him on a 50' lead and call him in them shock him on a low setting continous as you pull him in, and stop when he is in your hands, he will learn pretty quick that he doesnt get shocked when hes in your hands, some dogs need more voltage than others and, it may make him more untrusting til he figures it out then he should be fine, but I would still keep him in a kennel or a long lead til its set in stone

Dallas isn't that the new jagd you just got like a week ago?I would return him where I got him and get my money back.Unless you're dead set on this dog but him being 3 and still acting coyote I'd say that you're fighting a loosing battle I could be wrong but I wouldn't waste the time on a dog like that.

The guy i got him from has very vocal if i wanted to bring him back i could anytime i have to respect that. Like some have said i should of made sure he would come to me first. Im just like anybody else i will make mistakes but belive i have learned  a good lesson. But i must say the little sucker can hunt. He was burning the woods up. It must be just like what alot of people say they my not wanna go home until they are tired should i fault the dog for that or not? I think the main thing is i need to develop  a relationship before i take him out again.

Hang in there with him it took me 4 or 5 months to get mine to come while we were hunting and it was not like he was act coyote he was still hunting and just didn't want to stop and wouldn't make loop close enough to grab him now he is fine had him few yrs though. When he is finding pigs u can catch him cause he will be there prolly on and ear lol
