Never heard of them before. Saw one yesterday.  I thought it was a real good looking dog. Has anyone ever tried one?

that's where I saw one.  The guy tracks deer for folks. Heck of a good looking dog. He said silent on trail, dog had legs for days. I asked him about a pup....He said it'd be about 2 years and 2,500 dollars... laugh no thank ya. I didn't realize how rare they were.

Wiki isnt much help. It says the breed is a cross between the bavarian hound (which is, according to the hyperlink, the exact same dog) and the hanover hound (which is a cross out of the bavarian hound) used during medieval times, but just recently introduced to france in the 1980s. The hanover hound looks like a cross between a redbone and bassett hound, then crossed over to a redbone again to get the bavarian hound.

thank ya sir.  Your right , not much but that's interesting.  I just thought they were good looking, well built dogs, I had never seen one before. The guy also said they track silent,  and are cold nosed. I've always heard a lot of folks wishing they had some silent hounds. I thought these dogs were pretty cool. And heck this one does look similar to a red bone. Just with a black head.
