X2. Im looking at trying for at least wolves and either whitetail or mule deer in idaho this fall/winter or maybe catch spring/summer wolf season. Just got to our hotel here in priest, id. Evidently there is a fire that is in both wa and id. On the plus side again, im looking at buying some land up here and its only an hr away, so i will be able to see the land with and without powder on it and get a lay of it to see if i want the land just north of spokane, or buy land around the cor de' lan or sandpoint, id area.

"This is what's been in the way of hog hunting."

I'd call that a valid excuse.

Didn't weight the cat, as we had already hiked in through two canyons.  Guessed his weight at ~180#.

Charles,

I've been wanting a wolf too.

Chris, what state were you hunting in? In wa and id, i get non res tags and license at resident cost. Id be glad to get the tags and enjoy your company. Im gonna have to use the guys i work with as a guide till i learn the areas that have large amounts of wolf and deer, then, the game is on.

Most of my hunting the last year has been Lincoln, Capitan, and Cloudcroft, New Mexico areas.

Been eyeing Idaho for wolves.

Let me get up with the guys i work with that are from or live in id and sit down and have a good talk with them bout where to go for the best yield of wildlife and ill let u know what i find out. I think wolf tags are $10 per and i think a max of 10, but iv heard ranchers will allow you to hunt all you want without tags. Something similar to the tx law of acting as a manager type thing in the absence/conjunction with/of the landowner when it comes to hogs down there. I dont know for sure, but will do some asking around with the ranch owners. I think im gonna try and train my new bluetick on lions, since in id, its still legal to dog the lions.

God created mules so fat guys don't have to climb mountains on foot.

This particular mule spent the last several years packing sac-crete , t-posts, and barbed wire up and down the mountains, as the terrain is too rough for the fence crews vehicles.  Handles about as well, or better than most horses i've ridden, and is honest as the day is long.

Tried to buy her, but I don't think there's enough money printed to get the old man to sell her, and I don't blame him.

I got a Rossi 45-70 last year but all it does is jam on me. Have to get it to the shop & see if they can find the problem. I have tried several brands of bullets & it still wants to jam when you eject the bullet.

Cajun,

I had a misfeed occur at 20 feet and eye lever to my bear. Was a little hairy there for a moment. I'm not sure if it's from me short cycling, or a gun issue.

Looking for a Marlin 1895GS  in 45-70 for a future grizz hunt.
