It was May 17, of this year when my dogs were stolen. As soon as I knew for sure that they were stolen, I called Madison County Sheriffs office. And the only thing they did was send a deputy out to make a report. The deputy that came out was very professional and was sincere about what happened. I had boot prints, fingerprints, and even had told him who it could have been who had stolen them. But giving out information to who was the actual one of the dog thieves, they dropped two of them off at another person's house that threw me off of them for almost three weeks. I have gotten five of them back and the sixth one that was accounted for was shot and dumped in a creek off of C.R. 113 in Madison County. I even got statements from two of the dog thieves and went all the way to freestone freestoneCounty to collect another one of them. Now that sheriffs department was just exactly the best to work with. But the case being from Madison County, the lead investigator never returned a call from myself or from Sgt. Scasta freestoneCounty. I don't know what else that I can do without flipping the script. I just can't understand how nothing has been done about it. I have even taken copies of the thieves statements and dropped one off at the sheriff's office and one with the District Attorney's office. Lets say one day I see this dog their in particular. Cock miy 357's hammer, and put a bullet right between his eyes. Would a grand jury send me to prison for life? Because that's what is soon to happen. I have even learned of the whereabouts of three of the last five dogs that are unaccounted for, and even the whereabouts of the dog their in particular that bullied three minors into helping him. I have heard about two other incidents after mine that hog dogs we're stolen. What else besides a blood bath can I do?

Aint no dog worth going to prison for a long time, keep your nose to the grindstone, no matter how frustrating it gets. Keep doing what you are doing now.. eventually, that dude will pay, either on earth or the afterlife. Dont do anything that will ruin yours and your families lives. Stay srong, God Bless You.

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

Election time is coming up here in Louisiana. I would want to put pressure on the DA and Sherriff's Department to arrest and prosecute; if it meant I had to start talking to someone running for office, I might do that. Keep pressure on the authorities to do their job. If I had to call the DA's Office everyday five time a day- I would.
I think we would all like to take justice in our own hands, but the risk and penalty isn't worth the reward...especially since you've talked about it on here.
It seems like local news channel reporters are always looking for a story. Maybe a reported would listen and take your story and run with it.

Last year a dog showed up at a friends house wearing a tracking collar without a name plate. He called everyone that he knew that hog hunted and chained the dog where it could be seen for the road for 2 weeks. No one claimed the dog so he called me to see if i wanted to try him. Within a couple of days another friend called me asking some details about the dog and to make a long story short....The dog was stolen 10 months before I got him. The original owner called me and asked about some particular scars that matched up with the dog and he came and got his dog after being stolen for 10 months. At that point I decided to buy a freeze brand and brand my dogs. I know that branding your dogs wont stop someone from stealing your dog but i think it would make someone think twice before they do. And if or when it happens it will make it easier for other people to identify the dog. For example if you tell people (sheriff, neighbors, facebook friends) "be on the look out for my dark brindle dog" that may not mean much to some folks....but if I say "be on the look out for my dark brindle dog with a white "S" and an arrow branded on his side" then those folks can relate something to that dog other than color.
I know this is off the subject of your original questions, but your circumstance helps me see the value of branding my dogs.
Keep looking and collecting information, use the internet (social media) to your advantage by posting ads and pictures, I have found that the majority of the hog hunters out there will do all they can to help someone find their dog, but keep in mind what you say on social media can be used against you in the court of law and you can't do much hog hunting in prison....

Yeah I wouldn't do anything stupid. fair is fair. But the law is the law. I use to be pretty hot headed when I was in my late teens and early 20's. I would just assume throw down with a man than talk it out. But I learned some valuable lessons during those times. When I say fair is fair , but the law is the law....I mean it would be very fair to whip a man (or worse) for stealing your dogs. But on the other hand its still illegal. Might go to jail (or worse). It sounds like your on the right track. Keep doing what your doing and pressuring somebody to do something about it. Good luck sir.

Hey, the other thing that just crossed my mind, if u can prove he shot your dog inthe creek, i cant believe the animal resource officer in the sheriff's dept wont get him for animal cruelty. In alabama, thats a class 3 felony and u lose right to keep guns etc. Heck i to that avenue , although i feel purdy sure you are on top of that asoect too.

Thank you for everyone's comments, and suggestions. You all say that the majority of hog hunters will do everything they can when they find a dog with identification, or without. Well don't think that it's the majority will do their best to, but around here where I live, it's not at all that way. These kids don't respect anyone. Not their parents, law enforcement, or even among each other. I have found out even more about these dog thieves. Most of the misfits live in Iola and around Franklin. Some of these boys are from good stock, but seems they fall into the wrong crowd. Doing any kind of drug they can get by stealing and cheating folks. I am not saying by any means I didn't raise a little Hell and certainly wasn't an Angel, but I have never stolen anything, or said I was perfect. Haven't heard a thing still from anyone in law enforcement here. If anyone has heard of anyone around Madison, Leon, robertson, or brazous counties that call any catahula dogs named: Freedom, Smoke, Bolt, Calli, Can't Get Right, or Tip.... Write their license plate down and names if you get them and call me at 936-348-4215
