I got 2 new ones that I really like. Here's lady, just a solid old yella dog and Bella a young but pretty decent blue lacy. Only pic of her I have right now. She's out of the game for a while. Managed to cut leg good her somewhere around my house both were given to me by Chris Scott. He keeps great dogs and has been cool enough to share the wealth with me

Lady in that pic isn't cut down. She hadn't hunted in a good while and made 16 miles last night running 3 hogs and was wore out

Thank you

I go hog hunting with Mike  and freinds then go run my dogs on wild quail ... I've done this I guess for 3 years now or more . I'm hardly ever home like hog dogs it takes a lot of birds to make a bird dog and they ain't gonna learn anything in their kennels

It's nice to see my efforts pay off when I win , but honestly I just love running them by myself

I thought I'd update that ..

There sure is a lot of nice young dogs on this ., wonder if any others turned out

Chris,
You ever use any of them bird dogs on hogs? Thats about all I run. Every track dog I have except for one is at least 1/2 bird.

No sir.. I've heard of some people having success at it .

Curious What would you say in general bird dogs add to your hog dogs ?
ThankS

Aw man theres a lot I like about bird dogs. Stamina, high prey drive, Bottom, Gritty, and a good nose to boot. They actually bay very well to. Mine will bay anything over 100-120lbs, but will eat ones arse up to get him stopped. My 2 best dogs are 3/4 bird, and I have a full blooded 2 year old that is about to take over.

I know some lines don't turn out well, but between me and my buddy we've had pretty good luck with high percentages of our pups making hog dogs. Ours will put their nose down and grind out a track though, where some birddogs want to run with their head up the whole time winding.

I don't think you'd be disappointed if you tried one.

I've got more but these are a few that I had pictures of. The second pic of the dog with red patches was the best I ever owned. The hog in the pic killed her. She trailed 1.7 miles the way the crow flies and bayed him in his bed. The young male is my two year old and he's been doing as good as I could ask

Man those are some good looking dogs. Do you have a specific line of bird dogs you'd suggest using for pig dogs or did you just get some and start your breedings? I've been really wanting a GSP or GSP cross but can't bring myself to pay those crazy prices for a pup out of parents that have never hog hunted.

I wish I knew. The dog that all of these go back to was a backyard breeding between a gsp and a English pointer. He is a once in a lifetime dog.
