Is it a hematoma or bone?

I've had pups go through a stage at 3 to five months and the top of the skull gets a knob, then is goes away as their skull grows. Not all of the pups in the litter get it

It's generally refered to as a top knot.

The space beside it on each side will fill in with muscle as a dog matures then as the get old and lucky enough will atrophy and the knot will appear again.

Some folks say the bigger the top knot the bigger stronger head the dog will have and pick pups accordingly...

My son and I have a pretty extensive skull collection. You can really see the difference in canine breeds and species in the top knot.

Fox and yotes have one but it's not raised much. Domestic dogs have a very pronounced too knot which is much more exaggerated in some breeds. You ought look at a litter of Dane pups....talk bout a bunch of knot heads lol
