I like the saloon or the repeating doors if the trap is big enough!

Thanks for the reply . Any pictures of the triggers ? I'm a dog hunter and know very little about trap design . Have used the trip wire a little but looking for a better design .

You can hindge the door from the top. Put it on a slope and prop it open with a rod of some sort. Then the first pig big enough to raise the door off the rod will let the door down. Works real well if you will bait out the trap for several days with door tied open. They get used to going in and will usually push through the door after it closes.

I use the saloon doors that are spring loaded. tye the doors open bait the trap let the hogs eat a day or two then untye the doors the hogs will push though and keep pushing in you can catch multiple hogs this way. Generally the bigger the trap the more hogs you will catch.

depends on the style, size, of trap. i use all styles. each senerio is different. one trap may work where another wouldnt. i use different traps for differnt properties/hogs. some hogs are trap smart and have to be caught with a trap they havnt seen befor !
do a search on here and tdha under traps for different ideas. i know there are some on here somewhere.

I build traps out of 1/2''x2'' rec. tubing and welded wire panels. My dimensions are 4' high, 5' wide, and 16' long and have a gate in the center. My door is a continuous catch that hits the side of the trap about 10'' from the framed opening. It hits against another piece of the tubing that is welded in from top and bottom. Spring on the door is just a screen door spring about 3/8'' and about 2' long. I've got to build a couple, so I'll try to get a few pictures in the next few days.
