I got a jagd gyp that will retrieve i was thinking i could work with her on some shed training does anybody know what i need to do to get her started and if train her does that mean she'll bump a deer more often.

I'm by no means a pro but I let my dog just chew on old sheds in his pen and will play fetch with them then just do some "staged hunts" with a reward when he brings me them. He now brings me any sheds he runs across in the woods.  I don't think it has had any effect on him jumping deer

does it matter how old the shed is

I don't think it does just cause all the ones I work him with are several years old but I'm sure a fresh shed is easier to smell out then one that's been laying out for a couple of years

Same gyp just found out she knew how to retrieve and im not hunting her so were looking for more options

My male jagd got jacked up sunday night but he's  gonna be alright . Gonna be out of it for a bit.
