As you guys know I hunt with Slim, although he posts on the forum more often than me, he and I still have the same passion for hunting hogs with dogs. We are in the process of culling some dogs and I'm looking into getting a Lacy. I've been around them all my life as cattle dogs and I know they are super intelligent and energetic. What I don't know about is how much bottom do they generally have? Nose? And what's the easiest way to go about training one? I've heard/read they are generally rougher dogs, but how rough? Any past dogs stories or information is greatly appreciated. I know not all dogs of the same breeds are photocopies, I just want to get a general idea before I buy a pup.

Like I've already told you. Everything I ever get told about lacys is that Bella is your stereotypical. Grouchy, head strong, high energy lacy dog.

My best dog is Lacy x mnt cur by far the best dog I have ever had or hunted behind very good nose very good bottom and energy for days but smart don't waste energy when there is nothing around. He can be moody around new dogs that mess with him very good handle tho. And fast as all get out

Mine is very rough he will try any hog to stop it then bay then catch with others or cd. But at the same time will bay a heard has done it many times. I wouldn't hesitate to get one from good breeder but they can be pricey

I haven't had good luck with any of the lacy's I've fooled with. The way I work though they stay in the kennel about 38 days and then get hunted about 28, and repeated like that thru out the year while deer season is closed.
Anyway it could've been me or it could've been the lacy's I tried.

Blastin, what kind of differences? Has she gotten better? Is she hunting deeper in no sign? Also, is trixy a real grouchy dog? I ask because Bella is a B*txh of a gyp lol

Bella sometimes will go straight out and roll. Other times she will sit right next to me. But as soon as I say get ahead she goes. Like she was waiting for me to tell her

Honestly couldn't tell you blastin but my guess is right at about 42-45 I'm probably way off though. I feel like she's bigger than a lot of other lacy dogs I've seen. All I know is she can run like the wind and she's got a pretty solid nose from what I've gathered. I'm excited to see what she makes in another year or 2
