I was wondering the same. In ca gps is illegal. I thinking since it works off of cellular tech if it would be legal to use.

That a good question. That I have not been given a good answer. That's just what the law state here in CA. We can't have treeing switches either. To many seed eaters in this damn state.

It is not legal because we have a bunch of idiots running this state  and a bunch more that voted them in to office that's my 2 cents. And it's illegal to track a game animal with gps I personally don't know anyone that is fast enough to put a collar on a hog lol.

No from what I heard the final hearing on it is in Feb, I guess it passed through the first part. I asked the guy to send me all the details so I could actually read the legislation on it but I have not received it yet. So from what he say's is if it is held up or whatever we could have new regs by July 1st making GPS legal.

I agree with CA hogman on real reason why. But what their written argument is, is that it is not fair chase and gives the hunter an unfair advantage, which is ludicrous!!! I would actually understand more if there was a law saying you had to use them to be a more responsible dog hunter but hey what do I know.

Boy was I glad to find sasy alive that next morning.  A person would think it would make yiu a more ethical hunter to use GPS because you can get to your dog's faster.  That would give your dog's less time to get hurt / killed and the hog could be dispatched sooner.

Hopefully yall can get that law changed.  That's a little bit crazy right there. I know people have hunted for thousands of years without gps, but I would seriously consider quitting without gps collars. It helps to keep the dogs in the proper areas, this aint like it was in grandpaws day where you could just pull over and dump the dogs out of a 49 ford where ever you pleased. These days folks want you locked up and your vicious hounds put to sleep. Lol. ...
