I have talked to a 2 old doggers who say an outlaw cur is 1/4 cur 1/4 pointer 1/2 pit. They say they make some jam up hog dogs with good range and gritt. Who has hunted with an outlaw cur before and what are your opinions. I have a good pointer/cur pup and am just curious about the cross and want to know if they have enough hunt, I dont doubt the gritt! THANKS for any input.

I'm hunting one now! He is a medium frame dog with a fear nose he has a lot of grit and will wind off the buggy. He is quick very rarely does he even get a scratch. He is a short to medium range hunter unless on a hog. He is also good at getting one shut down.

I live about 15 minutes from the man who breed this line up. I have heard some were good. I have hunted with three of them and wouldn't have taken any of them if they were offered to me. They are a little bit of everything. They have some hound in them, plott and walker for sure.

Are you sure that man was really breeding outlaw curs? Just asking because the couple of people I spoke with specifically said pit x cur/pointer. never said hound and they were pretty specific.

They wanted me to breed there pit gyps and i dont care if my dog gets his rocks off I just dont know if i want one of the pups!  Wink

There may be more than one line of "outlaw curs" but the only one I have ever know is bred by a guy named Randy Dominy here in Georgia. They are a mixture of a little of this and that. I know some have hound in them because I recently met another well know hog dog man here in Georgia and he told me of a breeding he did years ago with Randy and he mentioned plott in the cross. They are mostly bird/bull and cur but they have a little extra added in depending on what he needs. "PECOS" on here knows of the fellow I am referring to. He has either a full "outlaw' or half. He really likes his.
I think your cross would be fine. If you want a well bred bird/bull and cur cross, PM and I get you a number to a guy here in Georgia that has a line of these he has been breeding for thirty years. He will sell you a puppy or a good started dog that many folks say are better than your average finished dog. He will sell you a well started dog for around $750 and the dog will do exactly as he says. Some of his finished dogs have fetched up to $4500. I just bought two pups cause I realized how important good a bloodline is. His better dogs will follow a hog for miles if needed. I never witnessed this but have heard from folks I trust. PM if you want his number. "PECOS" on  here has one and swears by it.

I have one and he definitely has hound in him. Hunts pretty close until he smells one then he's gone until he stops it. He will catch anything 200 and under by himself and won't let go. Anything bigger than that he will bay until another dog gets there then he will catch what ever size it is. The only thing I can't stand is he's semi open on track. If it wasn't for that he would be perfect for me.

me and a buddy of mine went to georgia and he bought a outlaw curr from the guy that said he started the breed, he bought him as a finished dog when we pulled up to the mans house i bet he had 70 dogs and i knew this dog wasnt finished because there aint any way someone can hunt that many dogs, well anyway he gave the man 2000$ cash money and needless to say he was very dissapointed when he got home, they might be good bay pen dogs because this man did have alot of trophys and ribbons and such but who wants a dog that will bay in a pen and wont hunt. and im not talking about anyones dogs i was just giving my experience
