This is her mamma Bit, and her litter. Lucky and her litter were born May 31st, 2015.
She was definitely my pick of the four. Got word back from another guy that her litter mate is doing good as well. I had a litter of Amerigo on the ground at the time and was a bit overwhelmed, so I homed the whole litter in hopes that someone would take them and hunt them, and make a dog out of at least one of them. Then we could breed them back in to keep that blood going. Sounds like you did just that...
So the story of how she got her name... I had her kenneled up, and worked her here and there with box work, little pen work, but nothing too much cause she was still pretty young. My buddy has a little bit of property, and a pen with hogs, so I let her run around out there for a little while with his yard dogs to let that prey drive kick in good running wild. She ended up disappearing for almost 2 months, and we thought she'd gotten hit or something. She ended up showing back up all emaciated and sucked up. I took her back home kenneled her back up... After she got healthy I took her back down to the pen to see what she'd do, and she was showing interest... Just still getting about a little slow. So basically, she almost died, came back, got healthy, and I homed her cause she deserved a chance after going through all that, hence the name Lucky!
Now to hear that she's made you a dog makes all that trouble worth it a million times over, and is part of the reason I do what I do.
This is her sire Fred and half sister Lady.
Another pic of Lucky and her litter mates.
Thanks for the update on her. Hopefully when it gets cooler we can make a hunt so I can she her work.
