A guy I know has a young BMC that has struck him about 10 pigs but he says the dog wont hunt out far or really get after it unless you put him in the bay pen before hunting him or do a mock hunt or run him with another dog and get him on a pig in the woods. After that he is fired up and will start really hunting hard. Has anyone ever heard of a dog acting like this? I have thought about buying the dog myself thinking maybe he just is still unsure of his job or something but I wanted to see if anyone else has ever dealt with this and how it went.
