I have seen a bunch of bully dogs, none were catch dogs. Just pets. The majority of them had breathing issues. also they are short. I have a blue pit bull and he is a tad on the short side. Ive watched with my own eye's where a hog smoked his ass in a foot race. I would imagine a bully dog would catch and possibly work out good for some people.  But there just not for me.

I think bully's can make good cd as with any breed there are good and bad. I feel they would work good for a guy that likes to get real close before he turns lose as in 20 yards or so. Far as blood lines I don't have a clue

im guessing you mean american bullies. if so my huntin partner had 2 of em and both worked . but yes they were for sure very short distance turn in dogs. dont thin k the line would matter as much as the physical makeup of the dog.

I would think very low % of them would make good catch dogs, especially since they are trying to breed the legs off of them. On top of that they tend to have breathing problems.

Not going to say they won't never work because as Gary said he had a friend with a couple that did, but there are just so many better options out there. Just my two cents.

I think the short stamina is a good thing if you like your cd to come right back if they miss. I don't think much speed would be lost in 50 yards or so do to shorter legs. But the ridiculously short would are out of the question. This type of dog ain't for me but if would works I sure wouldn't knock it

I know a guy here in AR that uses bullies. I do not know the line but his do a fine job. Fine enough one of them is pictured on swamp dawg gear. That dog was a heck of a cd. Calm cool collected then all Buisiness when sent.

As far as in general I would say careful selection would give a man what he is looking for. But as a general rule I would go more toward the APBT side.

I think the problem using any dog  that doesnt breath well is the chance that hog breaks and  the poor breather takes off before u can get a handle on em.  You'll have a overheated dog real quick and n a hurry.  I'm sure they got the ''want to" they just pack the gear to to accomplish the task  any more. The purpose of the bully, is as stated previous, breed the legs out from under them  and the wind out of them.  The bullies have some strikes against them before u ever let em off the lead. I guess if u used them only in colder weather,  they may work ok, and i'm sure  there are a few individuals that excel, but as a whole, the group has had all their working equipment bred right out from under them

This is my blue dog. He's a good dog and does his job well.  Even though he's not a "bully" he's still somewhat short and lacks a little in the speed department.

Mike around here they call them pocket pitts, i cant see where i could use one for hunting, i know a fellow that raises them for shows and pets and i was at his house one day and he had a litter of pups ready to go i liked one of them pups and got it out of the pen and asked how much would it cost me to own that pup he said 2500$ and was serious so i put it back in the pen with the others , so their pretty pricey too,  its just to many bulldogs out there that are easy available to be trying someting different just to be different.

I believe the guy you're talking about is the guy at RR hogdogs and that's really what made me start thinking about it. I've seen plenty of videos of his dog Pete and it seems from the ones I've seen he took his time and didn't miss

That is who I'm talking about. He is a friend of mine and that dog was a fine catch dog. He has 2 pups off Pete now that are doing very good as well. I don't know what line Pete was but it worked. Dillion got Pete to replace Chevy after Chevy had lost to many teeth. He took to it great. Pete was a dog you could keep in the house, take to the woods, or to the local dog show at the fair. Pete was very adept at finding and catching deer that were blooded up and ran off. Easy going laid back but would hold like a champ.
