Monday morning woke up my little male pup out of my red gyp was acting kind of sick. wasn't moving around jumping up and down like the rest of the pups but I didn't really pay him any mind. Monday night he was in the barrel laid up. Tuesday morning went to check on him and he was in the barrel dead. didn't notice anything abnormal other than it seem like he had a lot of saliva all over him and in the barrel where he was laying. Tuesday afternoon I notice my little bulldog puppy is now acting real lethargic, and I thought to check her gums. and they were pearl white. I quarantined her. moved my puppy pen and bleach and cleaned everything and pumped them all full safeguard. this morning that pup is dead. there was bloody stool in my dog box where I had the pup. my first guess is hook worms... can any of yall make heads or tails of this?

is it a guaranteed thing that the rest of my pups will get it? everything is up to date on shots that's why I was discounting parvo... my step dad says its in the ground. hes had more than a few dogs die of it on our place over the years. but its beena few years since weve had a dog get it

I'm thinking a bad case of worms. The saliva is probably from the pup having a seizure before it died... seen it happen before, not a pretty site.

see mike that's why me and my stepdad thought hook worms because he had a heeler who got them a few years ago, he got real anemic, and seized in the yard,he got him to the vet but it was too late, though they did confirm it was hook worms

Hook worms ain't no joke. The saliva could be from both the bloody stool is sign of parvo there are two types and it can stay in the ground for ten yrs. even tho a dog has shots it can still contract it when there young. But ether way that sucks

If it is, hit them 3 days in a row with liquid panacur... then do it again 2 weeks later. I don't use paste wormers anymore because the medicine isn't evenly distributed in the tube.

Sorry about your pups...
My first guess is hookworms
My second guess is Corona or parvo...

If hookworms a good dose of strongid G and again a week later...

Could be coccidiosis or giardia, have you been to someone else's yard or have someone who has dogs come onto your yard?

no.... not that I can think of... I mean ive been around some buddies dogs lately hunting, but haven't been anywhere near their kennels. and I really don't mess with my puppies much. feed water, make sure everything looks healthy and leave them alone.

come to think of it last time I was around someone elses kennels was when I brought both of these pups home about a month ago. I got both of them from a buddy

It could be parvo and if so it is likely that other pups could get it but, there is no guarantee they will get it.  I had two pups penned together last year.  Both up to date on shots.  One got parvo and died, the other was fine.

Could be coccidiosis but coccidiosis doesn't usually kill them in a few days.  If coccidiosis you would see them slowly stop eating and get really thin.

Bleach will clean yes but only weakens the virus once it's in your yard it will take yrs to go away. Dogs can get it off the ground any where and will stay on them for long periods of time those shots and booster shots are very important. Cleaning just sets your mind at easy don't really do much

everything i have is up to date, beside maybe a rabies shot for 1 or 2 dogs. i make sure because i know its in the ground here. i bleached and cleaned everything yesterday. moved the puppy kennel about 30 yards, and wormed everything yesterdayand today, and will again tomorrow.
i thoughtparvo killed tem slowly over 2-3 days usually? i really hope i isnt parvo.... ive worked hard for the few culls  have.

Where did you get your parvo shots from?

When it comes to parvo shots I do not go the cheap route...used to be the 7 in 1 was the cheap one and the 8 in 1 was more than twice the cost because it included immunity to  Corona...
Now they have the 9 in 1 and the 10 in 1...always get the 10 in one because it includes corona...

They say there is no need to buy the 10 in 1 but I will not buy into that...
