Why, all of a sudden, am I seeing all these Garmin's for sale? Have they come up with a better unit or have people decided they can find dogs better with radio telemetry? Every time I ever hunted with someone that had one, I ended up having to find dogs with my Quick Track.

Most folks are selling their old 220's and 320's to upgrade to the Alpha. I love my Alpha, had it almost 3 years now... but I still throw a Quick-Track collar on the dogs also.

They quit repairing the 220, dc 20, 30 and 40 collars so I believe it is time to upgrade. I still ruin the 50 collars and have the quick track kicker attached to the same collar.

Surely they have improved the garmins since I've hunted with people that had them. I've seen the ones that first came out, lose signal and I could hear the dogs bayed. I'm glad I came up with dogs before shock collars and tracking units. It made me learn to observe dogs and my surroundings plus the game I was hunting.

10-4 on that...my dogs were semi open so I could read what they were doing...at least in my mind I could lol...good memories because my brother and I  hunted together back then and it was fun talking out loud what dog was doing what etc...

We were young and we could somewhat keep up with them...but those radio telemetry was a great invention...3 wheelers and 4 wheelers...I don't leave home without my tracker and 4 wheeler...

If their Alpha isn't out performing the 320, they need to update them... even brand new off the shelf. I promise you it will out do the 320 any day.

I agree 100%, I run both and also run an additional 320 for the other guys I hunt with so I have 3-units on my 4-wheeler at one time.  The key is to learn how to use it and use it.  What I mean is we utilize the birdseye a lot and I add tracks in basecamp as boundary lines of a property.  Works great but you have to pick it up and zoom in and out and if you cannot read it put some glasses on which some people have a problem with, LOL.
