I'm new to hog dogging. I live in Spring, about 40 miles north of Houston. I'm wondering where people go for hog dogging in this area? Or within a couple hours of this area.

Obviously, laws don't permit it everywhere. I'm going to be getting my first dog in the next few months and I'm trying to get an idea of where I'm going to be able to start.  Also, if there are any groups/clubs in this area that I would be able tag along with and learn from. That would be great.

Thanks!

Yes indeed. I feel like I've already learned a ton and I only discovered the site a couple weeks ago.

Yeah that surprised me when I saw that about SHNF.

Curious though, I was there this morning looking for hogs (by myself, no dogs) I saw a lot of sign but never hogs. This has been the third time that's happened. Is SHNF even good for hog hunting?

How do Sabine and Crockett compare?

The Sam Houston has a lot of hogs in it. There used to be a 2 month long dog season for about 10 years... I hunted it hard all those years and caught a ton of hogs. Those days are long gone now, but you can run dogs in the Crockett, Sabine and Angelina National Forests.
