A buddy an I made a run the other day. And got on a hog it bayed for just a few minutes. It started a long run and 1 by 1 2 of the 3 dogs can back in like 30 min an one gyp stated on it. It would bay for a min or two every hour. The gyp was running hard the hole Time. This went on for 4 to 4.5 hour to finely she came bayed we drove to her and walked it and cut the cd. As soon as the cd got ahold it squealed for a second. We got in the and the hog had already died. That was a shocking to see that.

I have seen that a few times it happens when the hog is ran a long time when it's warmer. I think it's more of a stress factor then you ran it to death

Couple months ago a boar stroked out and died while I was tieing it and shortly after a big Barr I had in the pen charged the fence and fell over dead right there seized a few times and died damnedest thing I ever saw.Healthy looking hog to I reckon he had a heart attack.

This is what it is! I have not had one pig die on me all summer long out of all the pigs I've sold. Buyer has told me several times he don't know how I'm doing it but I'm the only one that's able to consistently sale him healthy dog caught pigs this summer. Usually it's 30 hours before my pigs are run over the scales. The dogs not allowing the pigs to run races and get hot and dehydrated is the main key to my success in keeping them healthy this summer. These same pigs have often been caught for much longer than most catches. It's not to mention how long the dog swings, it's how far the race was run that's keeping them healthy this summer. Course you want to keep the stress to a minimum and eliminate as much of the swing time as you can. When I tie these pigs they are on fire and burning up even as a result of the short race. Often times the pigs are tied and left for 2 plus hours before I can get them to a trailer and untied. Still no dead pigs.

The boat that died was caught on sight in a palmetto head 40 yds from me I had him thrown and tied in probably 2 to 3 minutes after finding him zero race. The Barr was caught on site 300 yds away by two of my curs maybe 5 minutes on him he lived for a few weeks in the pen With shade water and food. Some just die due to stress.

I'll vouch for this much. The damn gyp that ran that hog is about an annoying little dog. Kind of dog you hope didn't make it close enough to the bay by the time it broke cause she will run to China and back if that's where a hog wants to go! More bottom than I care for that's for sure

It is crazy hot right now...... everything is hurtin this time of year. A buddy of mine has lost 6 cattle the past month....cattle that had ample shade and water and weren't pestered by dogs or anything else for that matter. Its flat out miserable in our woods right now, even on a windy day these thickets choke the wind out and the heat is borderline unbearable. Some hogs just cant handle being worked right now. I don't look for any one 100% correct answer as I don't believe that there is one, multiple factors come into play. Some hogs can handle the heat better than others just like people in my opinion.........
